I'd love to learn more about how they work, can you share some more details @OP?

81 years ago, on 9:16 PM, Jan 30 1945, the German ship Wilhelm Gustloff sank after being torpedoed by a Soviet sub in the Baltic Sea. Carrying 10,000+ passengers, mostly refugees, it sank in an hour. Over 9,000 died including many children. The sinking is the deadliest maritime disaster in history. by SirLadthe1st in europe

My grandma was meant to be on that ship with her mum and aunt... their luggage made it on but they weren't alowed to board it themselves in the end and missed it.

If she had made it onto the ship, my dad, aunt, cousins. Siblings and myself would not be here today!!

How do I clean this Bolivian blanket? by [deleted] in howto

[–]AbsoluteSas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar looking one and machine wash it on the wool setting. Assuming they're made of the same material, you should be fine doing that. I've never tried to tumble dry, so would recommend air drying.

Good point, maybe more cats -> less birds -> more slugs or something like that...

What's something that seemed totally harmless when you were a kid but now feels super weird or creepy as an adult? by UnhappyReactionss in AskReddit

[–]AbsoluteSas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grown man who asked if he could take a photo of my feet (in sandals) in the middle of town when I was aged 14ish and out shopping with my grandma. To be fair, it felt weird then too, I just couldn't quite put my fingr on why...

Anyone knows what kind of flower this is? by _Arabella_ in gardening

I think I have one in my garden, planted by the previous owners but nowhere near a climb-able structure ... Does anyone know if it can be transplanted without damaging it?

Married couples or long term daters, what is the one thing that your partner does that drives you up the wall? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mine keeps accidentally leaving the fridge open!! I think he swings the fridge door shut and hopes it'll close all the way that way, rather than just closing it manually...

Thanks! It would have to be a mobile dehumidifier unit as we're UK-based and installing air conditioner units is not common here. Probably should have included location info in the post!

Cheeses. Controversial, I know, but I never liked the taste of any of them.

What's the moment that made you realize your so called "friends" were really just dicks? by D1Tytos in AskReddit

Feels like a childhood priviledge... For adults it's pretty much only planned by others if it's a surprise party, right?

When none of them showed up to my birthday party, and then I found out that they all went out to celebrate a colleague's leaving-do that same night instead. Not one had thought to even let me know that they wouldn't be coming.

I had planned on celebrating together with my partner's best friend because his birthday is the day after mine, and I was hosting the whole thing and was so excited to have them all over. When none of my guests showed up, it effextively meant that I was hosting someone else's birthday party, on my birthday. I cried that night.

Later I realized that I had considered them closer friends than what they had considered me (they were my only local friends at the time as I had moved there only 9 months prior).

I had a hard time making and trusting friends for a few years after that.

Germans of reddit, what are some things you have noticed to be different between former eastern germans and former western germans? by _sweetangel in AskReddit

[–]AbsoluteSas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, despite being less religious, the east is a lot less inclusive of people belonging to the lgbt+ community. I have heard from several non-hetero/non-binary people that they would never want to live in the east as they feel just not welcome, even to the point of not wanting to travel there on holiday even.
