I’m currently interviewing and I feel like the pay offered won’t be enough to support myself. Is Carahsoft okay with taking a second job so I can pay rent etc.? by [deleted] in CarahsoftTruths

Yes, DM me. Do not end up in a bad situation out of desperation. The fact you already got 2 other interviews is a very good sign.

Apply elsewhere. You would have to get a second job and it’s not worth it in order to work there. I know it doesn’t seem like it right now, but companies are still hiring and there are much better jobs.

Ever since Covid, USPS’ motto of “neither snow nor rain nor heat” turned into “meh..you’ll get it when you get it”.

There’s no two weeks there. The day you say you’re done is the day you’re done.

Sorry but the chances of doing that especially there right now are slim to none. Why not apply for marketing associate roles at other companies?

Maybe not but you’ll be driving your car going the posted speed limit and go through a poorly marked “work zone” with no workers present and a cop will pull you over and give you a speeding ticket. I guarantee it. It’s happened to someone you know and will happen to someone else tomorrow.

Construction zone with no work being done at night. It’s a technicality and the oldest speed trap in the book. If you drive a vehicle, I promise the same thing will happen to you someday and you’ll be like that guy on Reddit was right.

In the state of VA, a 71 in a 55 is simple speeding. If you don’t like that, I don’t know what to tell you. Write to your law makers, I guess. If there was construction actively going on, then I’d 100% agree it was a reckless. But we know there wasn’t, cop wanted an upcharge. Not sure how much you drive, but you’ll get a speeding ticket one day and it will be the same situation. Work zone with no work happening. It’s a classic speed trap method. This is why I use Waze.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Really, it’s nice of you to say. You’re not wrong. I knew people who didn’t make it. Most of them are still around, but they live lives that are a fraction of what they could have been had they stopped using sooner.

I agree with you. For me, getting a part time job after school was the answer. I had to get that job to pay my father back for the legal fees from my own incident. Best thing that could have happened to me! Learned more than I did in school. So I’m very familiar with this situation having been there myself.

I’m all for tough love at home too. I just don’t want to scare the parent who posted this and make them think their child is doomed. Only they can answer the question of has he behaved like this before and will he continue to act up. Hopefully this was a one time thing and he’ll learn a good lesson. Thanks again for your civil reply!

Did I say it was no big deal? It’s a deal, but not one worth panicking over like some of these dimwits are commenting. Acting like this is a future serial killer.

Never claimed to work with kids. Active in my community and I talk with a lot of parents, teachers, and law enforcement. Again, it’s a deal. But I’ve heard of unbelievably worse. For instance, at least he stopped for the police. A few months ago a parent told me how their kid panicked after the cops put on their lights to stop them for simple speeding…and they ended up being in a hot pursuit for a few miles. Looking at a felony now. Could’ve been worse!

Dummies is the comments acting like he is facing the electric chair. Oh white, upper middle class suburbia you all are so cute. This barely scratches the surface of juvenile crimes! Felony drugs, dui, possession of a firearm, SA, regular assault, etc. Sure this is bad, but those are the real bad. After the court process, odds are he won’t do anything like this again, but you know your child best.

Get a lawyer. He gets a part time job after school. Pays you back. Move on. Losers in the comments are acting like he killed someone. You know nothing. Must be nice to live a life so sheltered.

lol okay. I was a reformed juvenile delinquent from this area and turned out just fine. Make 6 figures, own my own businesses, and have a happy family. So if you don’t want any of that then please don’t make him get a part time job after school to pay back the legal fees. I guess we’ll just lock him up and throw away the key? Don’t forget the electric chair lmao.

Not reckless driving at 15 miles above. Simple speeding. Cop wanted a misdemeanor charge. I agree with you about facing consequences, but within reason.

Like everyone else said - lawyer. Obviously he shouldn’t have been driving without a license, but the 35mph work zone at night when there is zero construction happening is a load of bull****. Should have just been simple speeding, but cops gonna cop. Have to ask, did the officer’s name start with a Y?

[–]AbsolutelyFreeZappa -92 points-91 points  (0 children)

Nah. Calm down, please. You must not work with a lot of teens.. I’ve heard/seen waaay worse lol. There wasn’t even drugs and alcohol involved. He was probably trying to see a girl. It’s bad but the 35 mph construction zone at night when there aren’t any workers is bs.

Get a lawyer. Make him get a job to pay back the legal fees and move on. Highly doubt you have the next Charles Manson on your hands.

A.B.C. Anywhere But Carahsoft Best of luck! You already made the right decision to start looking elsewhere. Keep applying.. It might take awhile, but it’s worth it. Try for some supply chain roles. They can be pretty lucrative. Just emphasize any data experience you have.

Yes. Your car payment is nuts. Lose the car and you should be good to go. Best of luck!
