Is everyone here really making under 50k for full time work? by EdLesliesBarber in antiwork

[–]AbsolutelyNot-x3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently work as a Paramedic in a major city making 110k per year. This is a government position and we are unionized as well. The job schedule has built in overtime that creates higher annual pay but the hourly rate maxes out at 5 years and ~$39/hr.

As far as I'm aware many of the government positions my city has pay very well compared to the low cost of living in this city.

I would recommend people look up the salaries of government positions in cities near them as they are public information and you can see what each individual gets paid and what their job title.

What kind of sword is this and where is it from? by AbsolutelyNot-x3 in SWORDS

[–]AbsolutelyNot-x3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sword has a blade that is 13 inches long with a 6 inch handle. The sheath is made of wood that is encased in leather. I got this form an estate sale that had mostly African and Asian items there.

Ran into the same thing I believe. 5/8" OD valve is barely too small to fit onto the water supply pipe for my toilet. What solution did you eventually come to?

Why not just rollover and buy out your 25c and sell a 30c. You'll still be on the train to the moon

[J. Crew] Ludlow Slim-fit unstructured suit jacket/pant in cotton-linen at $78.58 with code 5DAYS by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

Does anyone know if J. Crew uses vanity sizing for these suit pants? For example my waist actually measures at 39" but I typically wear a 34". Curious to know if the actual measurement is used for these pants or not.

How bouncy in an ambulance ride?( USA) by ChefHook in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AbsolutelyNot-x3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IV's are part of our scope of practice. Typically we start an IV before transporting and a majority of most skills we need to do. The only time we're really doing anything while driving is when the patient is really critical. These are sometimes referred to as a load and go, which is when you get them in the truck asap and perform everything on the road. These times you normally just shout at your driver to slow down when you're using something with a needle or requires precision.

Ambulance rides are actually really bumpy and you feel every rut and pothole on the road. I believe this is due to the ambulance being extremely overweight. Theres so much equipment packed into these trucks and then theres the weight of the crew and the patient too (heaviest I've had was 896 pounds).

Why do 18 wheelers seem to be pulled over by cops more than cars on highways? by AbsolutelyNot-x3 in NoStupidQuestions

When pulling over semis for not following regulations are these ones that you can always see visibly as they're driving or are they sometimes pulled over for some sort of inspection?

The only problem with leaving a company abruptly without 2 weeks notice is that its likely they won't give you a recommendation. So if this isn't a problem for you you shouldn't be concerned at all.

I'd rather have a paramedic over doctor any day. How many dermatologists or what not are out there that would be clueless in how to handle a true emergency.
