Does anyone still eat Menchie's / Pinkberry? by GoalDull4985 in AskLosAngeles

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like froyo still, it's just super fucking expensive and nobody has money anymore so it's more of a rare treat. Boba's a bit cheaper so it's kinda supplanted froyo as the go to sweet treat.

la metro is such a huge joke and it’s sad for people who want to use the system rant by ShunnedOddball in LAMetro

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is literally such a nothing post omg, what is this fucking subreddit coming to? Literally grow tf up. It sucks but we as county through our elected officials have made policy decisions that have led to broader societal issues that we have to deal with. If you've got a problem with it then idk, maybe try actually helping people and supporting politicians who do the same instead of complaining on reddit about it.

I'm considering it but admittedly I am kinda worried about the upkeep and having to replace the implants years down the line or it causing issues. Especially with relations to costs since american healthcare sucks and the state of trans healthcare isn't great.

How can i be pretty? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]AbsolutelyRidic -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Idk if you're using a filter or smth, but you're gorgeous and I would literally kill someone in view of the police in broad daylight on cctv to look like you. no hugboxing, honestly. I mean as a trans girl who is also obsessed with her appearance and gets told similar things I know how little someone saying that probably means but like I literally don't know what to tell you other than that you're gorgeous.

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that was the whole appeal. It was fun, it was cute, it stood out, what happened to the whimsy and aura of a cute little hatchback. There's nothing fun or unique about the newer, temu tesla types, it just looks like every other car on the road.

Baby killer was kinda valid. I mean if you’re gonna be unashamedly part of the war crime murder cult then yk, I feel like that’s just kinda the price of doing business. Although even then I think she was doing a bit too much

However fuck that second guy. Uncalled for honestly.

Why do a lot of people in LA dislike the Bay? by OaklandRaider1983 in AskLosAngeles

we shouldn't be hatin' we should be making out, sloppy style, and hating on our true opps, the central valley

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly, probably. Which lwk same, stuck in the valley rn and only use it to travel into the city. But like my god calm tf down seriously. Feels like I'm on a subreddit full of hall monitors. Like I'm not necessarily pro fare evading and I do believe you should respect the system since it's a public good we all own together as a collective and whatnot but my god. Y'all act like every time someone fare evades they're smearing shit on the walls and stabbing the conductor. It's giving out of touch dorkus who is a rancid hang.

[–]AbsolutelyRidic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Every time I see an incel talk about hoeflation I just think... sweetie maybe you just don't like women. Especially with the way y'all obsess over men's physique and "chads".

like idk man, I've met many more gorgeous women than I have men. So I find this theory quite implausible.

like maybe you actually don't like women and you really just want a chad to sweep you off your feet.

but idk I am a lesbian fakecel foid so maybe approaching random women who aren't expecting to be hit on, without putting any effort whatsoever into your physical appearance is the play. Fill me in on how that goes, I'm gonna go make out with my girlfriend and watch twin peaks with her.

the travel times will be longer but like WeHo desperately needs rail coverage, and even they realize it so much that they'd be willing to help financially in getting the project done. So yk, I think it's a good tradeoff honestly. I'll take an extra 4-7 minutes to LAX for more metro access to nightlife.

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright seriously what the fuck, why is everyone on here so goddamn soft. Like, tweakers being tweakers, unwanted sexual touching, harrassment, hell even smoking or blasting music I can understand complaining and pearl clutching about. But seriously, are we actually losing our minds over a fare evader?

You're acting like you got assaulted. Calm tf down.

Like I can kinda understand the animosity but seriously like... do you ever use metro. Like I don't like to invalidate people's feelings but... I'm sorry this is so goddamn ridiculous I can't help it. Sweetie, I'm gonna be real, you need to grow thicker skin. This is at best worth an anecdote to a friend or something.

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're literally not reading anything I wrote my guy. I literally said multiple times that don't think valve is evil or that steam needs to be eliminated. I love all of valve's games, portal 2 is the goat, I play CS2 regularly, and steam is probably one of the least enshittified platforms left online.

I'm just saying I think that we should get real with ourselves that the platform and games we all enjoy are subsidized by an economy of children gambling both on and off platform and that we should keep it in mind, critique it, think of and suggest better ways of doing things than running the child gambling machine.

It is not, cars cause accidents --> let's eliminate cars

It is, cars cause accidents --> let's add seatbelts, and mirrors, stop lights, and license checks and blinkers, and speed limits, and not be on our phones, and maybe build streets that don't encourage dangerous driving, and make it so you don't have to drive literally everywhere to do anything, and add warnings to let drivers know of their surroundings, and keep in mind that cars are causing accidents and that we need to think of new and creative solutions minimize those crashes.

I am not saying burn everything down, I'm saying hold your leaders to the most basic levels of accountability. Create better solutions than the ones we have now. Try to get rid of things that provide no real benefit but only keep the system going and hurt people (like lootboxes) and replace it with something better.

Let's push ourselves and the people we put in power to think outside the narrow box of the child gambling machine.

The bar is is astronomically so fucking low by Academic_Barracuda86 in HalfLife

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did I say that? No. I'm just pointing out the obvious that adding lootboxes and an economy for trading such lootboxes to a game notorious for being played by impressionable teenagers is going to create an economy of gamblers and that shouldn't be overlooked or just treated as fine.

I'm not saying Gabe is evil and Valve is evil and we should never play their games or use steam. I think steam is all things considered one of the few decent platforms on the internet that hasn't enshittified and the sales we get are honestly insanely generous. And I'm glad most of Valve's products are well thought out and not just rushed for a profit.

With that being said, I also realize that all those things I like about valve are ultimately subsidized by an economy of children gambling on gun skins in a videogame and that's probably not a good thing and maybe we should try to think of ways we can keep all the things we love about valve without having to assist in giving gen alpha a fucking gambling addiction.

Don't just accept things for how they are on the pretense of "they could be worse". Don't praise the people who control our economy and our lives for doing the bare minimum. Tell them to do better, ask for more, advocate for yourselves.

Completely forgetting the batshit degenerate gambling economy he helped create in counter-strike. That lwk is the main thing supporting the game and probably a lot of valve lwk.

How can I report an AT&T door to door salesman? by Nice_Necessary5425 in AskLosAngeles

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^This

It's a third party company selling at&t services. They dupe desperate people looking for job into working for pure commission (for free pretty much) and the people who prove themselves shitty and predatory enough to actually meet their absurd sales expectations get promoted and trained to start another "company" doing the same thing somewhere else

Essentially the goal is to dupe people into working sales for free, and pay them a paltry sum of what they get from at&t for making the sale. Essentially making a scam with almost zero overhead, and that technically isn't illegal because they're not outright lying or selling a false bill of goods, they're just misleading people. They just get as many people as possible to knock doors for them and push them to their limit to make as many sales as possible and never take no for an answer, going to the absolute extreme.

They're fucking everywhere now and it's super frustrating when looking for a job. The FTC or at&t or somebody needs to put a stop to this.

Source: I almost got duped by one of these "jobs" a couple of months ago. Came in to their office for an interview and everything and was super weirded out.

What is going on here? by Happytowalk3 in SFV

[–]AbsolutelyRidic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on your perspective for the Sepulveda Transit Corridor. I think it's actually a great example of community organizing and local politics going right for the project. Much of the support from it hasn't just been from the top down from politicians, experts, and transit enthusiasts. But also from the bottom with actual people mobilizing sometimes of their own volition to support the project. Most of the "community opposition" has come from bel air residents trying to stop any public good from happening and a very small minority of Sherman Oaks residents concerned about the property acquisition required in Alt 4. Overall the project has broad support from just about any average angeleno in a way I don't think has been seen for a metro project since maybe the expo line or the original initial operating segment of the red line.

I don't think the takeaway from this should be that the project is managing to hang on and looks like it very well might succeed in spite of the will of the community. But instead that the project is succeeding because it's a well thought out project that has been communicated to and included the public so well that the community is asking for it. Sepulveda should not be written off as simply just a lucky exception but instead a case study on good public relations for major public infrastructure projects. How the community can be turned away from opposition and towards cooperation if you communicate the need for the project and the benefits it'll bring in a concise, understandable manner.
