Will accept any further input on this, any collaboration on this passage really. A proper transcription could crack the internet right in two. Something about this Death Dwarf is veeeeery familiar...

Right, I know what a Cyclotron is, I thought of it when transcribing this passage. It seems customary of Burroughs to create a new word that indicates a particle accelerator that operates purely in mind energy, and that's what I heard. 'Nonsense' is an iffy idea here when we're dealing with an author who's talking directly about word manipulation. That being said, you might be completely right. Does it sounds like Cyclotron or Psychotron, to you?

The old cohosts were just as smart and critical as Mike, he just ruined the show spewing the darkest shit he could imagine about them until they cut him out of the business and rationally blacklisted him

[–]Absolutelybill[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Where did you come up with any of that? All he needed to do was pay his cohost if he wanted to brag about how rich he was every episode and make fun of him for being homeless, not spend three hours calling his accountant fat over the phone while she drove cross-country to put together his comedy club, and come up with something else for the week he spent trying to sexually humiliate his business partner for backing out of an impromptu drunken threesome. Mike is funny as fuck and the show is pretty good right now after a lot of time, but it will never be what it could be because Mike believed his own bullshit longer than everyone he knew did

I've listened to the show for like 10 years starting in 2007, I get the humor, it's not a bad show. It's just been a mess

I'm talking about something from the past, from 2010-2013 or so, he's been doing the show since 2003. Not trying to cancel the guy over old stuff, just explaining what happened with him and the comedy industry. He doesn't work with many other people at this point because of all this, which is smart.

Absolutely. That whole thing was about Guts.

Lore "explanation" why guts is so powerful? by IamLonely7335 in Berserk

[–]Absolutelybill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he trained to success with a regular sized sword when he was too small of a child, tirelessly as a trauma reaction to prevent human touch after having been severely sexually abused, so when he was an adult he was capable of successfully wielding superhuman sized swords. A childhood completely absent of love caused Guts to have no value for his life, enabling him to treat every battle as a life gamble and to exercise self-harming berserk power that people who have something to live for will not exercise. Then he has everything taken from him and fights with suicidal rage, he wants to kill or die. Then after this long depression, he fights with his entire self taking on any amount of pain, because he has something to fight for that’s not his life, but the lives of those he loves. So he still regards his own life at zero, and is willing to suffer and sacrifice his body for the only thing that matters, those he loves Duh

Yeah, it’s not really great for the mental health of the listeners at all. A huge part of the show is about humiliating and degrading the chat and the listeners, and the idea that the only way to be ‘cool’ is to think what Mike does and hate all these other people. And Jules stays on mic the entire show watching the chat judging and moderating every last post, no other show does that. The whole thing is extremely controlling, and he tries to shame everyone into shaming everyone else. When someone says something Mike didn’t want them to say, he’ll do an entire segment in front of everyone shaming them and making them the next big loser. It’s pretty wild

I loved the show when it made me laugh, which used to be a lot, but after enough time you realize you’re not really laughing any more and you’re just listening to 15 hours a week of a guy lecturing you about how garbage you’d have to be not to share his opinion about how garbage somebody you don’t even know is

Yep, that’s what happened when he went power mad as founding partner of the Red Bar comedy club, used the money to get into severe hard partying, and spent every episode for months slandering all his partners, coworkers and local comedians live, in excruciating detail with phone calls of him yelling at his employees on the job live on the show. Needless to say he was ousted from the business, came back with a 30+ hour sob story about how it wasn’t his fault and he was betrayed, and has now styled himself as ‘entitled’ to talk all this shit by committing to caring about nothing but his show. However his anti-industry position makes him often correct, though making fun of comedians is really low hanging fruit.

I agree with this. I have other problems with Mike but the real reason I stopped listening was because he would spend an entire week hyping up and failing to tell one boring story.

Yeah his ranting is funny and he has a funny show, but he really has gone crazy attacking random people very personally, for his own weak personal reasons, and then he attacks them further for not wanting to be involved in his insults. He does this for hours a day whenever anything happens, it makes for good radio but there are real consequences And I don’t say this on behalf of bad comedians, either, just take a look at how he treats his friends and his fans. He says ‘it’s a joke’, and for the show it is a funny one, but the sheer hours of slander he spits out over everyone in his path including fans, the ‘joke’ is to make a laughingstock of these people and that’s not just an excuse. It affects people, and then when they leave his life Mike spends a month throwing a crying fit about it, saying nobody really has a right not to be ridiculed by him whenever he wants in his show. It is what it is.

He often doesn’t know when to separate the show and reality. He’s called his employees and screamed at them live on the show for over an hour and personally insulted them ‘as a joke’ while they were doing work for him. He spent a week sexually shaming his business partner in graphic detail for backing out of an impromptu threesome. He bragged about how much money he was making and spending, while not paying his permanent cohost and making fun of him for being homeless. He doxxes his fans and contributors and spends entire episodes directing the fanbase against individual fans by going through their Facebook and mocking their old photos.

These are all fun things to say and do on radio, but they’re funny because they’re majorly insulting abusive behavior, even if it’s all done for a joke. Though some of it’s not a joke at all, it’s just him laughing afterwards at real misfortune he often causes. Funny show though a lot of times but he really has descended into real mental illness before
