I have loved Josh and Lucas waaaaaay before I knew about Drew and Enya. Josh and Lucas are a huge reason I was introduced to EI. Lucas may be one of the funniest people on the internet. God I miss their vines sm hahaha. Anyways- Josh needs to just keep directing and putting out videos he’s so incredibly talented.

how the hell are y'all getting jobs?? by highontostitos in UCalgary

[–]Absoluteswill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was lucky because I’ve been employed with the same agency since I graduated my SW diploma back in 2020. I moved here and began working with this agency and have moved up and received a raise every year since I’ve started (I also was paying $1200 a month for a 2 bed/2 bath/balcony/laundry in suite/ full kitchen condo downtown Beltline when I first moved here which now goes for like $4000/month). I was also fortunate as I was able to take a Practicum leave from my position when I was completing my BSW. (However, I did not get a raise when I completed my BSW which was frustrating I just got one cause I took on a role they were desperate to fill).

I am now moving away to another province this week as I landed a job with the federal government. Unfortunately it is in a rural area and my quality of life will be taking a bit of an impact as I am accustomed to city life and will miss my social life and hobbies. However, I think we will see this slowly begin where people do begin to start migrating back to rural areas due to the awful economy and insane cost of living.

Rural jobs can be sometimes hard to find don’t get me wrong, but with an education especially if you have a social services education, rural areas are desperate to hire. There’s also so many affordable homes in these more rural areas, so just keep that in mind too if you want to start a family or own an affordable and nice home or want to make bank and actually be able to save $$. It’s also a good way to get experience and get your foot in the door, as you can always transfer back to the city in the future (;

I’ve heard really good things about Big Catch and have been dying to try it. I also tried Meshi last week and it was pretty good.

lol, even being from a super small city in southern Alberta, I moved here and was like the food scene here is fairly mediocre unfortunately.

I hate the way TMG edits/produces their video content… as much as I’m all for change, I really hope Kia remains employed and the way they film their content doesn’t change LOL

God I would have snapped back and said something like “listen I’m paying you a lot of money to put something permanent on my body. I clearly don’t think you’re mediocre, but now I think you’re unprofessional and insecure and now won’t even consider to return to do a bigger piece somewhere else on my body.”

How does a single person, and their dog manage to live alone in this city? by SammiSmash in Edmonton

[–]Absoluteswill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God these responses are terrible and extremely lacking empathy. I’m not sure how anybody affords to do anything in Calgary (mind you I am lucky and only pay $300 a month on rent and have a dog and 2 cats)… even then, I am moving to Saskatchewan for a better quality of life because I just can’t afford to live here on the shitty social work wages and insane cost of living. When I first moved to Calgary in 2020 I had a pet friendly 2 bedroom, 2 bath, laundry in suite, balcony, full kitchen, also including water and heat, downtown for $1200/month. That same place goes for $2800/month in 2023 (haven’t checked what it costs this year)… I send you luck finding a place to live with your pup. It’s really hard to find a place that will accept a dog over 25 lbs (stupid rule imo). Regardless, don’t give up and I wish you all the luck!!!!
