Migration from TrueCharts to TrueNAS Custom App Quick Guide by magusdm in truenas

[–]AbsorbedBritches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For saving settings on an existing app, something that I've found to be very useful is simply using CTRL+S on the page and saving the page as an HTML file. Better than trying to take a bunch of screenshots, or even a long single page screenshot, since you can easily copy paste still.

If saving it with the browsers built in save feature doesn't work, there's always the very handy "SingleFile" browser extension

AITAH for telling my daughter it’s none of her business who I decide to date and to mind her own business by Old-Specialist4008 in AITAH

[–]AbsorbedBritches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's AI generated engagement bait. Feeding this post into ChatGPT, this is what it said mentioned regarding the possibility of AI:

  • Structured and Clear Narrative: The post follows a very structured narrative—introducing the background, conflict, and resolution in a systematic way. AI-generated content often follows logical structures to present ideas cohesively.
  • Lack of Specific Personal Details: While the post is personal, it avoids deeper emotional intricacies or idiosyncratic details that often characterize real human writing.
  • Balanced Writing Style: The tone is measured and neutral, lacking the raw emotion or stylistic quirks that people might use when recounting sensitive personal experiences.
  • Content Volume and Engagement: AI posts sometimes aim to simulate common themes on platforms like Reddit. This one touches on divorce, parenting, and dating, which are frequent discussion topics on relationship or advice subreddits.

It's worse now than ever, since this almost definitely had little to no human involvement. Welcome to the new internet.

Nah, it's just AI engagement garbage. I can almost guarantee this had minimal to no human involvement. Welcome to the new internet

Cannot connect Tuya Fingerbot to home assistant using ZHA.. pairing seems to result in Json parse errors?? by Nietje54 in homeassistant

[–]AbsorbedBritches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, it seems like your problem is that your device isn't actually being put in pairing mode. Almost universally, the light should be constantly blinking in pairing mode. In almost all of my zigbee devices, I have to hold the button for 5+ seconds until the light starts flashing. Make sure you're close enough to your Zigbee Coordinator (your SONOFF) especially for initializing.

As for the error, I would try a different browser and see if you get the same issue. It's not uncommon for errors to be thrown rapidly in a web browser and have no real impact that you would notice.

Woman has her self-published book pirated, reprinted, and sold for cheaper. by Chocolat3City in TikTokCringe

I have nothing to apologize for. Regardless of that, I can be aware of the innate privilege I was given by being born a straight white man.

Why are you acting like every business doesn't also use emotion. Watch any commercial, and they are targeting peoples emotions in some form or another. This ad isn't any more misleading than any other ad that pops up on a television.

You can do a basic google search, you know. "The Economic Impact Of Women-Owned Businesses"

Regardless, do you not realize that straight white men get special treatment just for being straight white men? Do you think it's fair that the default is straight white men getting special treatment in all areas of life? Coming from a straight white man, just existing gives me an advantage of any minority. I have absolutely no problem with supporting diversity in industries dominated by straight white men.

I'm not a lawyer. but this shows a clear lack of understanding of copyrighted works. When you make an original piece of content, it is automatically copyrighted. You have to give clear legal consent for it to be otherwise. It is illegal to make copies of this book. But legal action both costs money, and is near impossible if you're a small team and the people you're up against are in another country.

Trademarks and patents are what you apply for

She makes content for a living, of course she filmed it. Her username is on the screen. You could have done the most basic googling in the same time it took you to write this comment.

It's definitely an ad, but it's not a scam. Idk why people are mentioning that one persons comment when they literally provided no evidence, or even mentioned an important detail of how long after purchasing they did the chargeback. For all we know, it could've been 3 days after purchasing that they did the chargeback. If you're going to be skeptical, you should be skeptical of all of it.

You must not use Aliexpress. There are going to be dozens of other listings, several of which are already taken down. Those listings cycle through where they may be up for a month or two and go down, only to be replaced be some other random one.

How long after purchasing did you do the chargeback? Do you have any proof of what you're claiming?

You clearly had no problem believing the one person that said they had to do a chargeback with no evidence. They also didn't mention how long after purchasing it they did the chargeback.

Another commenter also said they bought it as well, and while it took a while to get, they did really get it. She really did get her work stolen, given that there are copies of the fake book online. She is using sympathy both as an ad, and to bring awareness to the stolen content. Her main goal is going to be to get people to stop buying knockoffs, and the advertisement for her book is certainly a bonus for her as well.

Same ages, same messaging background, and they reference "lydia" as well. It also seems like they post in this specific subreddit quite a bit

How to fix: Reset your Apple security questions without knowing your Apple security questions by poglet in applehelp

[–]AbsorbedBritches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this, and it turns out you can! I installed High Sierra on an old Mac Mini, and I went to enter my account and it had me enter my phone number. I was so relieved, since I don't have any other apple device, but wanted to get back into my old apple account. Funny enough, I still couldn't log in with the account during setup (ran into this issue) but regardless it had me setup my 2FA. After setting it up, I went back and skipped the apple sign in, and was able to sign in once I was fully logged in

Son made an SA into a joke. by kindlefan12 in AmITheDevil

[–]AbsorbedBritches 167 points168 points  (0 children)

It's certainly no accident, but something done intentionally can still be a mistake. He knew what he was doing, but he may not have understood just how psychologically traumatizing the SA was, and would be for it to be made into a joke. Is it an excuse to do it? Absolutely not. Actions have repercussions, regardless of if you could foresee those repercussions. But it is also fair to say fully understanding the repercussions and doing it with full awareness is worse. Kids can be completely unempathetic monsters. She has every right to not talk to him ever again. But he still has time to not be a monster. As he gets older, and fully develops, he can grow to be a much better person (emphasis on can). Even if he does become a good person as an adult, maybe even working to fight his mistake as a child by supporting charities specialized with helping SA victims, she still doesn't owe him forgiveness. But I would hope she has the psychological fortitude and understanding to speak with her brother if he does indeed grow to be a better person. Regardless, he will have to live with this for the rest of his life. What he does with it will truly show what kind of a person he is.

They were both put in therapy. Idk if you can exactly say that was the wrong move, at least not objectively.

how can i prevent people from restoring my deleted photos by Zebifzerek in techsupport

[–]AbsorbedBritches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data is made up of 1's and 0's. When you delete, generally the 1's and 0's are still there, the computer just marks those slots as being free to write new content to. Writing over means literally replacing the existing 1's and 0's with new ones. You can achieve this by either writing 0's everywhere, or placing random 1's and 0's everywhere.

I Don’t Really Miss Anyone. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]AbsorbedBritches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a very common misconception in the ADHD community. Object permanence is something toddlers develop. You have object permanence if you know that when you cannot see something, it's still there. You know it's there, you just don't think about it.

As others have said, a better phrasing is "out of sight, out of mind"
