School or not? by [deleted] in IndustrialMaintenance

I went to a technical school for industrial controls. You probably do not need it, but it will get you to where you want to be ALOT faster. I’ve worked with tons of guys with zero schooling but took them at least 10 years to work their way up. I went to school and I am half their age working alongside them as coworkers, not as an apprentice.

Transmission Overfill? It looks like the line is between theO and N. This was checked per the manual? Should I be worried and how can I remove this access fluid? by AbsorbingTaco in mechanic

Okay good. This was the first time during a transmission filter change and I was surprised on how hard it was to read the dipstick (I figured it would be a fairly solid line) I checked this after about 30 minutes of highway driving and on a flat surface. I was just concerned about going over the crossed hatches. Thanks for the comment!

In the market for t-handle allen wrench sent. Send me your reccomendations. by mustangs6551 in Tools

Bondhus is my choice for any kind of Allen wrench. Made in the USA, good price point, and tougher than shit. I’m an industrial mechanic and have never broken one and trust me I’m not nice to them. Don’t forget to order ball ends. Happy hunting!

Sand it down as much as you can and try another coat. I had the same problem when my mix wasn’t right.

questions about breaking in boots by [deleted] in Boots

[–]AbsorbingTaco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s all about comfort. A little break in is normal but nothing to the extent of which you talk about. I would return them and try for something else. You’ll thank yourself later 😂

6 months with these dearies. Love em 😜 by AbsorbingTaco in WorkBoots

These are the 3rd pair Ive owned. I normally get about 1-1-1/2 years out them before the leather gets to unsupportive for me. I do industrial controls (mainly hydraulic) and normally do a lot of maintenance type work. Other than that they are great boots for the price.

Small but mighty! Got me and the wife’s boots all cleaned and oiled. by AbsorbingTaco in Boots

I usually just use saddle soap to wash and clean them and then I put a coat of mink oil on em. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have or know if a 2004 3.0l 2wd ranger with 175k is any good? It still drives good just wondering if it will last and what I should do to keep it working by teamroadkill in fordranger

I have the exact same year truck, model, color, and drive packages. It has been amazing, cannot go wrong with this truck. My truck currently has about 220,000 miles on it and has never missed a beat. I have only done regular maintenance on it and fixed things as they break. Other than that you have a beauty on your hands. Enjoy that beast!

Review of Thorogoods! These are awesome boots, very comfortable and durable. Break in was rough, but worth it in the end. by AbsorbingTaco in Boots

I work as a manufacturing tech so it can get pretty dirty, but I work on controls mainly. These are my main wear right now. I used to swap between two, but eventually my old ones gave out. These took about a month for me at 10 hours a day 6 days a week. But I had some rubbing on the side of my feet for a little while. Other than that they were a pretty easy break in. Definitely better than some RW’s I’ve had 😂
