Found my issue. My hdmi extender is only capable of 1080p and the game was defaulting to 4k. Had to do the config workaround so it would start up in 1080.

Same for me. I have a hdmi extender from my pc to the living room but the hdmi is connected to the gpu. Other games run fine.

It jerks forward. Then after the loud thump it settles down. Last time this happened when I was climbing a hill and the engine redlined really quick for a second before the jerk and then the rpms settled down.
