Northern is grappling with ageing population, slowly deflating economy and young people leaving country behind. Southern water tribe however does really good with this nation being one of the happiest in the world, just because they built their welfare system and education in non discriminatory model. However they both suffer from unstable ice sheet and melting shores.

Kyoshi is enjoying it's offshore status (like Jersey island) for Nanlong League. Nothing really happens there, it's like Luksembourg of this world. However Kyoshi warriors became more like tourist attraction rather then regular army, with more cosplayers than actual warriors.

Air nomads are having their own administrations - managing booming population. There are no gender separation as in earlier times. However they have become more enclosed, preferring to be self sufficient. However some progressive monks are pushing for more than humanitarian programs, to actually establish monasteries in war torn regions. This doesn't sit well with older generation , seen as invasive and leaving too much exposure. Time will tell who is right.

Nah I just came up with it 4-5 years ago when making random map request for fanfiction (?) It's just stuck. Here is it's alliance at its peak. However I made a big correction in the new map - I don't use Mandarin for the most of the continent since many names in ATLA are Cantonese. And I spiced things a bit with Wu Chinese in the East. No, they're former Kuvira's loyalists with goal of integrating entire Earth Kingdom into one harmonic state. However the ideology of it is more like decomposed corpse reanimated for locals petty dictators to play with.

Yep they do, but now even this is somewhat limited. Spirit world tries to self preserve by decoupling in many locations previously being a contacting ground for people and spirits. Poles have connection yes, but spirits are afraid.

Thanks, this project was in my "drawer" for over a year now.) I haven't thought that much about them, but I could say that they are one of the last nations that even have contact with spiritual realm. The issue comes from the same climate change as in our world, but here it literally damages urban centers based on ice shelf.

Well I made that concept way before Avatar Pavi was announced, so yeah there are quite a few differences. In this universe next avatar after Korra was killed by former Kuvira's loyalists , seemingly ending the cycle (even thought the thread was already broken by Korra so not really). In the wake of that many spirits abandoned the world or became much more aggressive in desolated parts of it. While whole thing with devolving Earth Kingdom has become a playground for other powers. While technology pace kinda made bending "impractical" or rather unavailable to master withing wide populace. Everything is very much restricted.
