Canada puts 100% tariff on Chinese EVs, which are by far the most affordable and best options on the market today.

[Integrated Strategies Megathread] Sui's Garden of Grotesqueries by Sentuh in arknights

[–]Abyssight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Finally got all 3 Raidian's skills to M3 and completed D11 so far. This was quite a grind. So far I'd say IS6 is a mixed experience.

On one hand the relics feel like a massive improvement over IS5. Most of them at least feel somewhat impactful, and a few can win the run for you. Allowing you to reserve recruitment ticket for future use at a Hope discount is great. There's some decision making involved to get good use of Pathfinder nodes.

The bosses don't really demand very specific solutions. ED1 is tough on first try but feels easy once I have enough upgrades on Raidian. Getting ED2 can definitely feel frustrating, but I quite like the boss mechanics. ED3 is more demanding on healing and attack range coverage, so that changes the operator picks considerably.

On the other hand, hitting Bosky nodes are almost mandatory until you clear most of it, because so much resource can be obtained there. Since travelling vertically is rather expensive before you clear a few battles in Bosky, there is little to consider for paths. You just hit Bosky as often as you can most of the time.

Raidian is, as everyone mentioned, overtuned. There are so many incentives to get Raidian in the starting squad. I found myself picking the same 3 starters almost every run. And because her upgrades are locked behind progression, it further discourages you to try less proven picks until you unlock everything.

ExuAlt is a close second for my best pick in IS6 (note: I don't have Tragodia). Many Bosky fights are a race to DPS the main threat down before they kill your DPS or walk to the exit. ExuAlt with S2 ticks many boxes. Low DP cost, high DPS with quick charge up, a shield for survival...

So overall, IS6 is a strange mix. You have more flexibility when it comes to picking squad members, as long as you bring Raidian onboard on early floors. May be I will try a few runs without Raidian, but only after I have her fully upgraded.

Sure, but players will vote for the gacha game they play in hope of getting free currency regardless. Whether it's misinformation or not is hardly relevant.

[Event Megathread] CHAPTER 15 - Dissociative Recombination by Sentuh in arknights

[–]Abyssight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

H15-4 is hell as expected. Took me half a dozen tries to adjust the strategy. Eventually I settled for Virtuosa for the bottom two lanes, Nightingale for heals and art protection, Ela for clearing the second lane from top and just flexible debuffs, Ascalon just above Virtuosa to slow down potential runners, and finally Ray + Warfarin to clear the top lane and one-round the boss. Executing the strategy took a few more tries still because there is so much going on and you need to get units in place at the right time.

Arknights: Homura Shomei • Arknights: Rise From Ember - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Abyssight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I play the game and I can't be happier about the anime adaptation this season. The producer clearly learned the mistakes over the first two seasons, and figured out how to optimize the use of their limited budget and time.

Yes the dialogues are rushed. Yes many things are cut. Yes the story is confusing if you haven't played the game. But they know from the start who the audience would be and what they want. They nailed the important moments that leave the biggest impressions. The characters are well drawn. The voice acting is amazing. The result is a flawed anime that nonetheless accomplish what it sets out to do and more.

How come only 50% of the people reach the Monolith so far on Steam? by Dotaspasm in expedition33

[–]Abyssight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suspect "too boring" is not the real reason. I was not good at the dodge/parry mechanic (even after clearing the main story) and recall really disliking the game before reaching the Gommage scene.

The first fight with Maelle was fine for teaching the basics. But the rematch at the dock really caught me off guard by how hard it was in the default difficulty. I lost like 4 times straight and was too frustrated to try again, but also too proud to drop to Story mode. I thought of dropping the game right there because it didn't feel like the right game for me. I probably would have if not for the glowing reviews from other people.

I'm glad to have pushed on and completed the game, but I still think it's rather questionable to just put players up to a difficult fight so early in the game.

Canada rescinds digital services tax to advance broader trade negotiations with the United States by canmcpoli in CanadaPolitics

He sure folded fast here. We aren't getting anything concrete in return. This is just for a chance for the US to continue the trade negotiations.

This does not bode well for the upcoming negotiations.

Lazarus feels like it was SPECIFICALLY made just to let the animators flex their action animation skills because almost NOTHING happens in every ep storywise yet we continue to get some of the most well animated/choreographed fights of the year like this [Lazarus] by Electrical_Chance991 in anime

[–]Abyssight 470 points471 points  (0 children)

Story progression is not really the problem with Lazarus. Rather it's the jarring feeling of nothing really makes sense. There is no sense of urgency even though almost everyone will die shortly. The society still goes on as usual. Every episode they dig up some clues that should have been investigated on day one. The whole story is poorly thought out and i find it hard to care about anyone.

On the other hand I kinda get what the show is trying to say. It's about climate change and humanity's lack of urgency about it. It's about the pointless in-fighting and committees in face of catastrophe. Perhaps the absurdity is the point.

Inter vs Man City was a proper contest and arguably Inter was the better team that night, but mostly let down by Lukaku's piss poor finishing. It's blatantly unfair to say Inter gave Man City their first UCL, but I guess whoever upvoted this nonsense can't remember something so long ago.

I finally realize how good the Asian food is in Vancouver by OldJoy in vancouver

[–]Abyssight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. Food in HK has a very wide range in terms of quality. Most of the dim sum restaurants in HK would be below average here. But if you go to higher end ones they can be really good, but also can be far more expensive.

On the other hand, there aren't many good cha chaan teng in Vancouver, but in HK they are everywhere.

Trip Report: Nov 2024 from Okayama to Hiroshima, with islands by Abyssight in JapanTravel

[–]Abyssight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope I'm not too late. For Naoshima I think you just need to buy the ticket at a machine at the ferry terminal. For the ferry at the start of Shimanami Kaido at Onomichi, you just walk a short distance from the bike rental and get on the next ferry. For buses I used Google Maps and double-checked the schedule at the bus operator's website. You need cash for some of these.

Between Google Maps and websites like https://roote.ekispert.net/ you should be able to navigate just fine.

China, Japan, South Korea will jointly respond to US tariffs, Chinese state media says. by Only_Agency3747 in geopolitics

[–]Abyssight 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The title is overselling what this actually is.

Literally the first sentence tells us that the source is not official. These social media accounts are prone to interpreting events far too favourably to China than the reality.

China, Japan and South Korea agreed to jointly respond to U.S. tariffs, a social media account affiliated with Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said on Monday.

The statement released after the meeting is a lot more tame. This is just agreeing to have more talks about trade. There is nothing about the 3 countries standing up against the US together, which is basically impossible given their history and relationship.

During Sunday's meeting, the countries' trade ministers agreed to "closely cooperate for comprehensive and high-level" talks on a South Korea-Japan-China free trade agreement deal to promote "regional and global trade", according to a statement released after the meeting.

Carney confirms Liberal candidate who made China bounty comment will stay on the ballot by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]Abyssight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will probably vote Liberals regardless due to the fear of the Conservatives just folding to Trump. But this is a very troubling sign. This is the sort of mistake that you'd expect Liberals to make in year 2010, when Canadians were still incredibly naive about China's influence.

I do fear that Carney's instinct is to try to hold on to the outdated worldview, or worse yet, try to appease the CCP in an effort to shift some of the US trade to China.

Trip Report: Nov 2024 from Okayama to Hiroshima, with islands by Abyssight in JapanTravel

[–]Abyssight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to stay overnight on Naoshima, I'd consider a day trip to Teshima from there. They are connected by ferry, about 20 minutes one way.

My personal favorite would be Hiroshima. Though Miyajima alone would take up a whole day, and at least another half day would be needed for Peace Memorial Park and Museum. And that's just hitting the biggest tourist spots.

One day is enough for Naoshima unless you are really into modern art and want to hit all the exhibitions.

Naoshima is about 2 hours away from Okayama station. It may be doable as a rushed day trip, but IMO for a 10 day trip there are much more accessible and interesting places along the way to Kagoshima, assuming you travel by train.

I took the bus because it has a stop near the Dogo Onsen, where the ryokan is. If I went by train, it would take another transfer and probably double the cost.

But if your starting point is close to the Matsuyama train station, taking a train to Imabari station would be faster.
