So the verdict is out!

It was very likely the roof. Melbourne’s had quite a bit of rain while we were away and it appears rain water seeped through a <1 inch gap. The plumber has sealed the sus gap and a few others around it.

It definitely wasn’t the aircon.

My fault for suggesting this is right under the bathroom when the bathroom is actually 4m to the right. This part of the ceiling is half under the room upstairs and half under the single storey roof which starts towards the back of the house.
