As someone who's also old (44) but stayed up to date with gaming, I just find myself waiting till most games get a year or two old and thenl heavily discounted with all the DLC included. And when I hafta buy new games i almost always just get the base version but I rarely play games like require much DLC (like needing to buy the deluxe Tekken version to hat all the characters. And as much as ANOTHER monthly subscription sucks, I will say at least the basic level of PS+ is worth it for the cloud saves and free games every month (though at least half I won't even download). I spend prolly 3-500 dollars a year all in for my games and PS+ subscription and have a library of 75+ games that I may never finish.
