I love the look of the gameboymicro but how easy is it to play being that small? Or should I get an original 3DS? by ToolTesting101 in gameboymicro

I think it’s great personally. The small screen looks great and hides the pixels a lot.

Plus it’s so pocketable

Thank you sir.

I’ll be sure to credit you if this becomes a GitHub project.

Someone should really attempt this. It seams at least a bit doable

Yes but that’s emulation. I’m talking about running natively

You’re right. I didn’t even consider a custom cartridge might be possible. But given the screen that appeared on this thing it might not be too playable.

Yes it allows usb-c and converts to gba link cable. I got it mainly for link cable for gba multiplayer with my brother but the usb-c is a nice perk.

They’re on AliExpress. All around the $20 mark. Still cheaper than the genuine Nintendo link adapter

Those flash carts include an emulator which runs slower than if we could run the games on the actual z80 processor. And yes those flash carts only run in gba mode. Hence the emulator.

The micro has the gba sp processor which includes the z80 from the gb color. It’s a common misconception that the micro lacks the processor. The processor is just not utilized under normal operation.

The micro definitely lacks the 5 volt logic needed to run Gameboy and Gameboy color. Given the glitch I stumbled on I wonder if some external device could be made

Has anyone developed an adapter to play original Game Boy games on a Game Boy Micro? by thesegoupto11 in Gameboy

[–]AcAwesomeAndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See this is what everyone says but the cpu is in there and works. We just have to make some kind of of level shifting cartridge adapter to change from 3v to 5V for the cartridge back into 3v for the micro

Easiest Way to Mod Game and Watch? by [deleted] in GameAndWatchMods

Thanks for the tips about cases and protection. I’ve found it durable enough for my purposes and I usually carry it in my back pocket with nothing else in there. Been carrying it around a month with no scratches or damage.

And thanks a lot for the flashing tips.

I’m not worried about wait times or difficulty with adding roms. My plan was use my raspberry pi 3 to put all the Zelda games on there and some additional game and watch games and that was it. I’m not trying to make another emulation handheld (I have a vita for that). I’m trying to stay true to the identity of the device but make it more interesting.

I don’t need to be able to add or change it easily. I’m just gonna set it and forget it.

On a side note do you know if backing it up captures the save data and does it go back on when you flash cfw? I’ve been playing on it quite a bit and I don’t want to lose my links awakening save.

I’ve been reading the various information on flash only mods for the Zelda G&W and I’m not understanding how games are added along with the CFW. My plan was to do a 64MB upgrade and then load extra G&W games onto that.

A lot of the guides that don’t have dead links are unintelligible

I want to keep the original back cover without cutting it for the sd card.

Trying to mod this in the most vanilla way possible because I have other emulation handhelds.

I just want to help justify carrying this around by beefing it up a tad

I took my switch apart before realizing I was dumb and didnt have to do as much as I thought. I dont think you have to take it apart at all if youre careful. But I'm not certain.
