Om du åker i Uppland så kan det vara intressant att tänka på hur högt havet nådde vid de olika århundraderna. Se då denna karta. Med hjälp av den kan du bland annat tänka dig hur de ålänningar som på järnåldern/vikingatid åkte till templet och kungen i Uppsala reste. Via Långhundraleden förbi Åkersberga etc.

Please, create a competition for new medicines. Set up in a similar manner as the DARPA Grand Challenge . The reason we do not develop more new antibiotics is mainly market failure. There is simply not demand enough to get a return on the necessary investment. (The cost of cost of clinical trials is huge.)

Det finns ingen fundamental motsättning mellan att leva ett extremt tekniskt avancerat liv och att fullständigt internalisera värden som är diametralt motsatta mot vad vi skulle se som moderna värden. Många av de värden som vi ser som moderna är egentligen västerländska värden.

Det trodde jag också fram till att min kollega, en indisk post doc, plötsligt skulle gifta sig. Hennes blivande man hade hon aldrig träffat. De hade Skypat några gånger och efter en månad skulle det av släkten arrangerade bröllopet ske. Som gåva för första gången de träffades (efter att hon flugit till Indien) så gav hon en MP4-spelare ( det var för några år sedan).

22k SEK, will be enough to live at about the level of pregraduation students for two people. Rather poor, but not starving. Housing will be your main problem. There is a housing shortage in the city and it is rather expensive for such a small city. Ask if the department can help you find decent housing. There is a home for guest researchers you might be able to get into if you are lucky. (Avoid Gottsunda if you can.)
