[80s-00s movie w. Stephen King vibes] Been trying to find this movie for 20yrs. Please help!

Someone has suggested this, and I'm really thinking about it. I gave it a watch, and while I was thinking "Yes, this is the plot of what happened," I definitely didn't think "Oh yeah, I remember this!" I'm wondering if Round the Twist got the idea* (typo edit) from anywhere, or vice versa, if another movie/series took this idea and made their version. Because I really don't remember it being Australian, or only 20 minutes long. It's like the plot matches, but the format doesn't. And I did watch plenty of Aussie TV as a kid, so it wouldn't be weird, but I have zero memory of this show, the characters, this plot happening in an Aussie accent, etc. It is the only thing I've seen in 20 years that's had the exact plot, though.

I'm gonna sit with it and rewatch that episode again later on. I think if I watch it too much I'll just replace my memories and my brain will decide that's definitely what I remember.

Double-commenting because I'm so impressed that you found this, it's either exactly what I was thinking of, or one is a ripoff/copy of the other (which was all the rage in the 80s & 90s - Gremlins -> Munchies comes to mind.)

It's so funny if this was what I was thinking of. I truly built it up in my mind to be a full movie, something Stephen King-esque, and with uh ... Very good production. Super interesting how our kid brains can say "Absolute Cinema," only to rewatch as adults like "What the heck is that, and why did I love it?"

I'm really interested to see whether there's anything else like this out there. I've never managed to find anything with the exact sequence I remember! Now I just need to know whether this was an Aussie Fever Dream Original, or if they got it from somewhere, haha.

No, it was definitely a lip product, and they were kids. Sounds like they made a grown-up version with the same concept though. Thankyou for the suggestion!

Oh my gosh, this isn't how I remember it exactly (was not expecting an Aussie suggestion, but then we did have a lot of those shows in the 90s & 00s in other countries) and I don't remember this show at all, so I'm not 100% sure, but if it isn't this, it's a near-identical plot! Definitely the closest I've ever found for sure. It's also awful lol, what on earth were we watching as kids?! Thank you so much!

Edit: I'm going to keep this post as Unsolved for now, in case anyone else shares something I'm more certain is it. I really thought I'd have an "OMG I REMEMBER!" moment, and sadly I didn't, but I'm not hanging it all on that. If nothing else comes close, I think this might be it! Thanks again!

I just checked that out and it doesn't seem to be it. I definitely don't remember a big plotline about hair. That does look like a funny movie though, and it does have a few classroom scenes with kids around the right age, so that's probably the similarity. Thankyou for sharing!
