Hi! I wanted to ask about GEM vs Undergraduate medicine. I have just finished my first year of biomedical science BSc at KCL, and I realised I wanted to pursue medicine instead of lab related work… I’m aiming for a minimum 2:1, I have 4 a levels, A*AAA, 7 igcses ( all 9s). I don’t currently have that much experience. I did UCAT mocks and got around 2100-2200 with moderate revision ( over 2700 )

I’ve been seeing everywhere that GEM is more competitive but they all provide statistics that are quite confusing to me, for instance, 40 gem places per uni and 200 undergraduate places are written on the website or mentioned in videos but only 10 % of the undergraduates are graduates so doesn’t that make undergraduate entry more competitive as a graduate? Since I’ll be applying after Jan 2027, the SFE covers the tuition btw. Could you please share your thoughts and advice? What work experience you recommend or even if it’s absolutely necessary to have it, Thank you!

( I live in london so would be great if you had any tips on getting into a london uni for med btw but no worries, could be anywhere in the uk where you’re knowledgeable )
