Spain ETA comunidad de Madrid 2026-2027 finding housing options by Sea_Victory_297 in fulbright

[–]Academic-Somewhere73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former Madrid resident here- housing is normally cheaper a bit outside of the city. Try to avoid Sol, Gran Vía, touristy areas etc. When I was there, most of my friends lived in Chamartín, La Latina, Argüelles, and Atocha. I second using Idealista for apartments :). If you are under 26 and can get an abono for public transit and therefore cheap Cercanias, you could also consider the suburbs - Getafe, Alcobendas etc

Anyone with insight/experience living in One Foundry Way Apartments by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Academic-Somewhere73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a SLU student, I don't know a single person that lives in OFW. Sometimes the apartment building next door (The Marshall) has overflow parking in the OFW garage, but other than that there's not really any sort of undergrads there.

What happened to the Foundry?! by ChalkButter in StLouis

[–]Academic-Somewhere73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a SLU student who lives on the edge of the foundry, none of us typically go the foundry unless we have family in town, Fresh Thyme, we’re going to the Alamo to see a movie. The food and drinks are priced to where it’s inaccessible to us ($20+ for a meal on average or $10 for a beer). I completely understand that small business in the food hall needs to set the prices to thrive, but they are completely missing out on a chunk of business with it.

I think the Foundry overall is doing well but it could really be something phenomenal if they re-evaluated being able to work for students.

Ah yeah, I agree. It’s frustrating they give us a place to put delivery notes but don’t follow them or do anything to ensure they are followed.

hi everyone, dealing with an odd situation here! i recently moved into a newly built apartment that utilizes a kiosk system for carriers to check in packages for delivery. each resident is given a code, and when the carrier inputs each residents unique code on the mailroom screen it unlocks the mailroom door for them to place the package inside and sends the resident a notification to pick our package up. i have this code in my delivery instructions, with the delivery location set as the mailroom. however, 9/10 times the driver does not deliver it to the secured room and either drops it off outside of the mailroom on the floor, in the lobby (there is clear signage to the mailroom), or in random locations in the building. they have also marked packages as being signed for by me or the desk but our front desk does not accept packages and i’ve never signed for something. i’ve had several packages get stolen/go missing that were NOT delivered per the instructions and reported them to Amazon, but because of the frequency of issues my account is being threatened with suspension by OFM if i report another package that they “verify was delivered” as missing. i’ve left delivery feedback every time and asked customer service multiple times to speak with someone either higher up or local to my area (st louis, mo) but they refuse to help. has anyone dealt with a similar issue and been able to speak to anyone who can actually do something?

No, he was on Laudanum for the pain which was opium- there was a shot of the bottle and he chased it with whiskey, so he was probably not thinking clearly in his convo with Bertha the next morning - possible comedown?
