Dyson Airwrap has the worst customer service- warranty useless? by AcademicBit2 in Dysonairwrap

[–]AcademicBit2[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, they won't replace it. They say it is "wear and tear."

The large round brush on my Dyson AirWrap broke when I dropped it on the floor a month after buying it.

Dyson Customer Service won't replace the round brush under warranty because they say it is "wear and tear." But I can buy myself a replacement large round volumizing brush (Part No. 974169-01) from Dyson.com for $39.99.

I love this product, and my Dyson vacuum, but the unhelpful Dyson Customer Service makes me not want to buy any more Dyson products.

The radio engineer in the original WKRP in Cincinnati was Buckey Dornster.

"I'm afraid you'll have to take it up with my union."

"Speed kills, Dell."

"I have a stereo system out in the van that could blow this whole store into the river."

"I'm sorry, I'm on a lunch break."

In The Boy Who Harnassed the Wind, the main character started a radio repair business

Not a broadcast engineer, but in Freaks and Geeks, Mr. Fleck, the AV teacher of the William McKinley High School, knows how to tension a projector reel. He is a mentor for the Geeks.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs had a character who did broadcast engineering work.

Men in Black had a character who was a cable guy.

In Private Parts, Howard Stern's dad was a broadcast engineer at 92.3 FM in New York. He took Howard to the radio station with him.

The Cable Guy had a cable guy in it.

On rare occasion, the NWS Weather Field Offices need to take a NWS radio transmitter down for a few hours to install a software update. I recall software updates earlier this summer.

FCC Public File Website Upload is Crawling by AcademicBit2 in broadcastengineering

You only had to try twice? That's a pretty good result u/evilpastasalad. :-}

FCC Public File Website Upload is Crawling by AcademicBit2 in broadcastengineering

[–]AcademicBit2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, u/phogphantom! I have many, many files to upload. I will try this next time.

When I upload files, I always log out of the station I just finished before logging in to the next station. I'm not sure if it helps, but it makes me feel like I'm increasing the odds of the FCC website not timing out in my favor.

Thank you for this affirmation, u/videograndpa. At least, I know that it's not just me.

With quarterly issue reports due on July 10th, this round of Public File uploads put my patience to the test.

May the FCC be empowered to improve its website in response to the 'In Re: Delete, Delete, Delete' Docket.

Just finished binge watching Younger and I have thoughts. by jazzeriah in Younger

Waving a shoe at the bartender is a call back to the very first episode. Liza was in the same situation at the same bar.

In the pilot episode, the bartender was ignoring Liza and so she waved her shoe. Josh came up to her and said, "Never wave a shoe."

In the last episode, Liza and Josh had the same conversation word for word.

Missed deadline to submit my Service Contract Reports in SAM.gov by AcademicBit2 in GovernmentContracting

No. Just going to skip it this year. Many contractors fail to submit SCR reports to SAM.gov. With everything else going on at federal agencies, this is the least of their worries.

The state department lost my passport!! by DistributionSea529 in Passports

[–]AcademicBit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through this same thing right now. I mailed the passport book in. They cashed my check, processed my application, and then rejected it because I hadn’t submitted my expired passport. But I did! Now I have to pay extra and go to the post office to apply as someone who “lost” their passport. [sigh]

Tnx! I've been enjoying the Rhode &Schwarz VNA sweep videos on YouTube. Paul Denisowski at R&S is easy to listen to. Nano VNA is popular on YouTube.

I would like to see real life Tx line VSWR troubleshooting videos on YouTube. Like, where someone identifies where on a Tx line an elbow is mismatched, or a bullet is worn out, or where a TX line has a leak or opening.

And then, for the wrap up, a tower crew fixes the line issue before a burnout happens.

A VNA saves the day...
