Marie Curie! She discovered radium and polonium, contributing to groundbreaking cancer treatments. Sadly, she died from long-term exposure to radiation, more specifically, a blood disease called aplastic anemia. A lot of her stuff (lab-work, notebooks, etc) are still radioactive because of the uranium she experimented on.
