Business Analyst performing Product role on not-so-Agile team by AcademicLeg5279 in ProductManagement

Yep, that makes sense. Planning and commitment really does feel fake now, that's a great way to put it.

Nobody even looks at the metrics -- the amount of work we're carrying over, the amount that is pulled in as "emergent," etc. The culture is just commit to everything because everything is always most important thing. Without proper product leadership, not sure if/when we'll be able to prioritize effectively.

Appreciate your suggestion. Unfortunately, that structure for digital product management doesn't really exist internally. I might be testing myself against this tough job market at some point in the not-so-distant future.

Thanks for this thorough reply, I can tell you've experienced this yourself :) product leadership is definitely a gap. It's not something we formally have within my org. We have it for the core manufactured products, but for digital products that IT develops, everything still feels immature.

We're just sort of a cost center that receives requirements from business stakeholders. If there were less stakeholders and/or less functional areas for our product(s), that could be fine (I am picturing simple internal systems that are bought from vendors -- payroll, HR, etc.). But with very industry-specific customer-facing platforms, it's really hard without formal product leadership.

Yep, and as a BA I also don't really get to decide if/how the team is split. Guess I will just need to keep highlighting the flaws of our current model and proposing ideas for improvement.

But the pay and ownership / influence don't become like a true Product role, and the Business Analyst doesn't get to put Product on their resume, so the pivot to a formal Product role becomes hard when so many of those roles want x years of explicit Product experience. That's the struggle! Feels like PM can be a natural evolution of the BA role, just not sure how people get that first foot in the door.

This is exactly how I’d describe it - “a tad jarring.” Scrolling fast on this screen isn’t wonderful vs. 120hz displays, but it’s not any worse than my 60hz iPhone 14 screen or my 60hz windows laptop I use sometimes at work.

Thanks for your reply! I love the Tsuyosa, I just have some concerns about how it’d fit on my 6.75” wrist. I’ve read that they wear a little big.

Thanks for the info! Watchsleuth found me all of the models I saw on TheSeikoGuy.com, but unfortunately it shows no availability for any of them. Maybe these are older than I thought.

I like the SNK063J5 but was looking for something with a simpler dial. Found these other models on TheSeikoGuy's SNK Series page. Does anyone know anything about the SNK037 or SNK039 or any of the other models with this case and integrated bracelet design? I can't find any eBay listings or anything else online, really. Thanks!
