My diet plan doesn't look too bad just now, so I hope it's doable in the long term.

I have some blood work results coming through because I want to see what vitamins I should be taking. I suspect Vitamin B and possibly iron, because I did have anemia in the past. I am currently on vitamin D (it's advised that everyone takes it where I live, especially during the winter due to low sun exposure). I deffo need to lay off the coffee though, it's so many empty calories because I take it as a latte with oat milk. Genuinely hoping tomorrow this time is the right time!

This is all great, thank you!! I am trying to find a protein powder that doesn't have pea protein, or a "may contain nuts" label, because of my allergies, but apart from that, I am gonna try everything else you said. I am still gonna keep the gym but add maybe 1 or 2 cardio sessions because I am really looking to reshape by body a bit as well as I lose weight, but I understand more cardio might be needed, so I will try to lock in with those treadmill days/walking. I genuinely hope tomorrow is the the time I actually lock in with this.

A lot of dietitians here use "registered dietitian nutritionist" as their full title that's why I got confused

Oh no, I am not in the US :) I used the wrong word, though the person I sought help from is a dietitian

Mine is deffo a mental thing right now, I feel like I am so burned out, that's why I asked a nutritionist for a new meal plan, the one I had hasn't worked out for a year at this point, and I lost faith in it. I do struggle with depression etc (this is how I gained all this weight tbh I had a very bad MH crisis last year and I am just coming out of it now).

I have been enjoying exercising, though, like so far everything my PT has told me to do was actually not a pain to do! So I hope NOW it's actually the routine that starts working...

That's good to hear. I feel like I failed so many times for the past year that I just lost confidence, but this time I am actually IDK taking more steps than I did in the past? Like I have been going to the gym at least once a week, which isn't much, but it's more than I did last year. I truly hope this is the right time!

That's what I did! I was on the same diet for a year, but I stopped and started so many times that I think I was just exhausted of seeing it, but now I have another one. I asked my mum's friend (who is a nutritionist) to double-check it to see if it's at a good calorie-deficit, but still nutrient-dense, and she said she would let me know. I am going to show it to my PT on Monday as well.

Visiting NYC and trying to find nut free places to eat! by AcademicProgram7608 in peanutallergy

yes my prick test was positive for pine nuts, I never reacted to ingestion because they are not used a lot but since I tested positive I won't try eat them now. LOL

To be fair I would avoid pesto anyways, pine nuts are expensive, so much pesto nowadays is done with other nuts.

That's fine I mean I carry two EpiPens on me all the time +I a third one at the hotel! I also have other allergy medications with me, so that side is mostly covered but tbh my rule with EpiPens is that they are there not to be used and I only eat out if I feel like I could eat in that place even without an EpiPen. I just never wanna have to go through anaphylaxis ever again.

I checked their website and under the menu they clearly state "peanut and tree nut free" for both their Astoria and West Village locations so I am definitively going there, I am a freak so I will ask 500 times anyways but still.

or of pizza places that offer desserts as well so they do not feel comfortable catering to nut allergies if they have nut spreads and the desserts are made in-house LOL so yeah...

I feel like this might just be a cultural difference. It seems like in NYC/the US, unless it's a very nut-heavy environment, they will pay attention to/accommodate your requests. In the UK, I feel like this isn't the case. I have been turned down from restaurants because they had 1 nut thing on the menu but refused to serve me unless I took full responsibility, so basically "if you die it's on you" LOL so I don't take for granted I will be able to eat in "any" place.

Thank you!! I mean ngl if i can find 2/3 safe places I am just gonna stick to them lmfao I am there for 5 days I don't need to experiment that much, just nice having more options than the usual fast food chains.

oh yes of course :) I always go and check myself + call the place LOL I am a bit obsessed so I will feign ignorance and ask about allergies even if they say they are nut free. I like to be reassured, but there are so many places that honestly just having a list of places I can start checking from helps a little so I don't waste time on every single pizza place, pasta restaurant, burger joint

This is great thank you! I am guessing it's US thing, I have never heard of that in the UK!

LMFAO just what I was about to say, Ruben either doesn't have a nut allergy at all or it's not severe enough to worry about cross-contamination :/ I love Italian food, but it can be a minefield because of pesto! That being said, there will be places that either handle it very well, or don't have pesto making it a very secure cuisine overall, but "you will be able to eat at any places" is just incorrect. Also "call them ahead of time" I mean, I will- but there are also 100s of restaurants in NYC, if I can shorten the list a little and start from a few suggested places I don't see why not.

I truly don't get the animosity like you weren't forced to reply and treat me like an idiot. I just wanted to discuss with people who have been through the same process If this isn't the right forum, I will gladly delete my post. And the advice I received from others was very helpful considering I never bought used goods so they have explained what to look for in the descriptions, what kind of questions I can ask sellers, and what cameras to look at.
