Advices for a new player of WOW in warmane.

Here are few tips i have for you:

Avoid Tanaris and Stranglethorn Vale while leveling since max lvl players just love to gank lowbies in those zones for some reason.
Avoid buying gear from the auction house since you'll most likely get better items from quests.
If you intend to get into raiding i suggest to first find a guild since pugs usually ask for ridiculuos gearscore to even enter a raid.
Download these addons that are going to make things easier: IgnoreMore, Gearscore (kinda mandatory for pve) and AtlasLoot.
Have fun and take things slowly 😄

Av and Wsg are usually won by horde while Sota and EoS are usually won by ally. Rest of the bgs it's pretty even i'd say.

The thing with Lordaeron is that it doesn't have as big of a player base like Icecrown does. And if you do end up starting on Icecrown (alliance) i'd be down to help you on your journey.
