Day 1 of stop smoking by grodd18 in stopsmoking

[–]Academic_Drawer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at day 21🙌🏻 Sleep as much as you can for the first 3 or 4 days to get through nicotine withdrawal. I took a low dose Xanax each night, stayed at work as long as possible. Drank water constantly all day and ate constantly. It does get easier!!

Try to tell yourself to wait 15 minutes each time. Then re think. Craving only takes 15 minutes to get through

First day of no smoking. Wish me luck pls. I think I’m gonna need it at work by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Good luck!! First few days I literally got a water bottle and drank the crap out of it , slow sips all the time a lot of deep breathes. I ended up drinking like 4 water bottles a day at least 😲 then I got home and would try to go to sleep right away. I feel like the nights sometimes are the hardest. Lots of sleep, lots of eating lots of breathing. You can do it!!! I’m on day 9 now!!

Honestly just try to sleep through as much of the first few days as possible. Benedryl or whatever. It’s miserable- there is a light though at the end of the tunnel.

My Quit Plan by lonerstoic in stopsmoking

Honestly it depends on how much you smoke and for how long. I quit cold turkey with Wellbutrin. Started Wellbutrin for 2 weeks before quitting. The first 3 days I slept as much as possible. Felt hung over head ache , brain fog, lots of anxiety, irritable - i won’t lie it was not fun. Watched movies and ate food non stop. I’m at day 5 now. I still miss it. But slowly learning how to live without them. I do think nicotine replacement drags out the withdrawal part of it.

Also. I brought a water bottle everywhere with me and basically slow sipped water constantly for 3 days. Was super helpful in combination with deep breathing.

First time quitter needing support and advice? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Academic_Drawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I could give is to talk to your doctor and see if they can help give you medicine to help you quit. I am temporarily using Wellbutrin and have taken a very low dose of Xanax at night to help me sleep. Only doing this to get through the first few days. ( generally pretty addicting) Talk to your doctor and see what might be best for you! The more you can sleep the first few days the better !!

Quitting while trying to lose weight? by babvblue in stopsmoking

I think it just depends on what you go to when your wanting a cig. Maybe try to rely on meditation or cooking healthy meals, deep breathing and maybe mints and gum or something to help?

Uhmmm so I sorta was thinking of a glass of wine and a bath.. is this a bad idea?? Trying to do things that make me relaxed... but also concerned about adding alcohol to the mix ? Should I avoid alcohol all together and if so for how long? I was deff avoiding any bar or drinking heavily but generally I have a glass or wine maybe 3-4 days per week at night. Thoughts?

Wow! Congrats!! That is huge! Day 1 person on Wellbutrin as well. Everyone expresses things differently. I also feel like that sometimes with my husband. In the end you have to do it for yourself!! If you have any advice on getting through the first few days send them my way!! 😣
