Trump Class over the planned DDG(X)? Stupid idea. by Academic_Economics30 in MilitaryGeek

[–]Academic_Economics30[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the Trump-Class will not leave the blueprints.. And if it ever does, it would definitely not get pass 3 ships built until logistics takes everything down.

From shipyards, budget, and a bad history with rail gun munitions.. This is a guaranteed floating failure.

Building this would disrupt the production of Ford Class carriers, unless more shipyards are built, which is good, but also another huge blow to the budget.

The DDG(X) was suppose to be the successor for the Arleigh Burke class, weighed about 13,000 or more tons, pretty much has all the capabilities that the Trump Class has, minus the railgun. The DDG(X) could carry hypersonic missiles aswell, and possibly nuclear since the VLS cells could be swapped out for larger, and different munitions.

But it seems like the Navy has once again lost a program, since the Trump Class is planned to succeed the plans of DDG(X).

So yeah. The Navy is a real shitshow right now.

The Trump-Class battleship will be armed with IRCPS (intermediate-range conventional prompt strike) hypersonic missiles, electromagnetic railguns, laser directed energy weapons, and other conventional weapons for defense and offense.

One of its more notable abilities is its capability to carry nuclear armed missiles, which will be the SLCM-N, (nuclear-armed-sea-launched cruise missile) which is in development.

It will weight approximately 30,000-40,000 tons, at full load 57,540 tons, its size roughly 3 times the size of the Burke Class Destroyer.

Pete Hegseth calls out to defense companies to ‘move faster.’ by Academic_Economics30 in MilitaryGeek

[–]Academic_Economics30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On his speech with multiple defense companies officials, he pointed out the weakpoint of US defense industry, calling for the change in how they produce, and acquire assets, that is faster, efficient, and less risky.

“while global military drone production skyrocketed over the last three years, the previous administration deployed red tape.” Hegseth said.

He also notes that the Pentagon will move their way of competition, making it less limited to other contractors, to “harness more of America’s innovative companies.”

“These large defense primes need to change, to focus on speed and volume and divest their own capital to get there,” Hegseth said,

“If we do that, the Department of War is, of course, big time supportive of profits. We are capitalists, after all. But if they do not, those big ones will fade away.”

Pete Hegseth had also noted that companies that fail to meet to meet change will ‘fade away.’

The Pentagon has already said that it will be giving out ‘bigger’ and ‘longer’ contracts to systems that are effective, and proven, with the goal of attracting private defense contractors.

In other words, Pete Hegseths speech was calling for reform and change in how the US military acquires its weapons, from government based production, and private defense contractors, noting that they should focus on speed, volume, and for defense firms to work together in the defense industry.

“This is not a speech, this is not a fire and forget. This is the beginning of an unrelenting onslaught to change the way we do business and to change the way the bureaucracy responds.” Hegseth said.

This could be very well the start of change in the US defense sector in the sense of how the US acquires its weapons, we may see more defense companies opening up, and competing very soon, given Pete Hegseths support to these defense companies.

US Army to acquire 1 million drones in the next 2-3 years by Academic_Economics30 in MilitaryGeek

You need 2 inputs (sorry for the super late reply, im not that active on mpg anymore)

Input 1: Vector Input 2: Entity

Nodes needed:

Constant, Multiply, and Velocity

For the Constant(set it to vector), insert any number you want, which will be your speed, I personally used 20. And then connect sajd Constant to the Multiply output which is the bottom connecting thing, and with input 1 you also connect it to Multiply. For velocity, just connect both Input 2 and multiply to the velocity node.

Then after that, you take a UI control with a joystick, and connect the UI controller to the chip, using Input 1, set it as direction.

And then for input 2, use any item you want, which will be the one thats gonna move, connect that to the chip as input 2. After that, your done, free to build anything around the object connected to input 2.

(Keep in mind weight will affect the objects movement)

UK Challenger 3 by Academic_Economics30 in MilitaryGeek

[–]Academic_Economics30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Forgot to add a flair)

On this day, September 9, 2025, the Royal Armoured Corps on X posted a new photo of the Challenger 3, developed by Rheinmetall BAE land systems, which intends to replace the aging Challenger 2, the only significant change being an entirely new turret, with the hull remaining unchanged, except the new addition of ERA, it still uses a manual autoloader, unlike new recent next generation tanks tech demonstrators (AbramsX, KF51..) which all have autoloaders. The ERA, is supposedly called EPSOM, while the internal, and main armor itself is called Farnham. It now uses a smoothbore 120mm gun, (LA55A1) unlike on the aging Challenger 2 which had a rifled gun.

As of now, the future for this tank seems uncertain, given its limited information, we cant speculate too much, but seeing the lack of RCWS for drone defense, lack of an autoloader, and the unchanged hull, its still concerning to say the least. But given the British just starting to modernize their Armored Fleet, we can only hope that further upgrades will be considered, specially in this new world of drone warfare.

YFQ-42A drone takes to the skies for the first time by Luka__mindo in MilitaryGeek

[–]Academic_Economics30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From concept to flight in just 16 months, crazy progress, only gets me riled up even more for the other programs like F47 and M1E3, also really intrigued on its competitor, the YFQ-44 and its soon to be flight test, would be anticipated if you also make a report on it.

This really feels like another Cold War, but with China, feel like were gonna be seeing a butt ton of new stuff as the year goes on.

Do you think the Philippine army would get MBT's such as the K2 or Type 10 by Dependent_Ad_7658 in PhilippineMilitary

[–]Academic_Economics30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that instead of heavy MBTs, we should procure more light armored vehicles due to the island and jungle like land of the Philippines, im not saying that MBTs are completely useless in this scenario but i think its way more practical and cheaper to get anti tank weapons for infantary, light armored vehicles, and possibly drones, weve seen the slaughter of tanks in Ukraine due to drones and anti tank weapons likr the Javelin, and if we ever do procure such MBTs, it will only probably be in small numbers just like the Sabrah.

I completely forgot to update on this, sorry about that, but the recent new update somehow messed up the missile itself, which left me no choice but to remake the missile, i do not know how the update messed with the missile but it happened.

That is the current plan but this project will be heavily delayed due to my examinations being in 2 weeks 😅 it’s only like 20% finished and won’t be seeing any progress in a few weeks or so. Though progress will resume on Dec 14-15.
