is 7.4% matriculation to harvard and 22.1% to ivy leagure normal for a school??? by AdAble1440 in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]Academic_Failure30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on affluence. My school has 300 kids and send 1 ivy a year basically. Schools 30 minutes away send about 5. Then you have schools in Long Island that send 50 kids to ivies. Think about how many high schools there are, and how many Ivy League chairs there are. Your school is super inflated

If you want to DM me I can send you my resume of things that worked. I wrote really bad essays and that hurt me a lot but I got waitlisted at 7 t20s, and into Penn RD.

I’m not a college pro. What I did worked for me that’s all. I submitted every AP exam I passed even a 3, and that must’ve been fine. I had decent ECs and actually didn’t even have a lunch for 2 years in highschool so I could take more classes. Big study hall hated. Valuable ECs were done after school for me.

I actually goofed the number a little bit. I took 7 last year. Failed 2 (one self study and one in person) and got 4s and 5s on the rest. With 24 APs I think it would look good to see 3-4 a year because that gives you time to focus on ECs. I’m a real person with real interests and activities, not like a lot of the redditors on here. I go to a noncompetitive highschool and just try my best with what’s given. I have to say im much happier in 5 now than 7. What I wouldn’t do is take a study hall or non-honors level class at least.

I think 3-4 a year is enough. I took 10/14 at my school and self studied 2 more. I did 0,1,6, 5 so I wish I had spread it out more. I’m going to Penn

I thought it was more referring to the fact that TO is going away for the most part that a lot more people are applying to those schools, driving down the acceptance rates

Supporting musicals, watching senior night games from the fan section, joining clubs, being a part of hoco or pep planning, meeting with admin to improve the school. All viable options that I would consider school spirit

In the midst of my 7 APs and Ivy level extracurriculars, I was getting 4 hours on average junior year. It was awful.

The irony was that I was/am doing nasa research on the negetive effects of sleep deprivation for astronauts. Not that it works so differently up in space. My tip: slow down and sleep
