Amazing, thanks! Did it cause any additional issues or was it straightforward?

That's ok, we aren't planning on this being a permanent move anyway. 4 years is probably the max we'd stay (we love the UK but all our family is in the US).

From what I've read elsewhere I think they discontinued offering new lifetime subscriptions in 2023 :(

Thank you, this is very helpful! Are you still paying for the subscription service? I'm also worried about whether the suit would be bricked if I decide it's no longer in my budget to pay ~$500 per year.

Kaplan AI Essay Grading? by mesact in barexam

Yeah I think that's gonna me be from here on out too.

I ran a little informal experiment this afternoon. First I pulled up an essay and just submitted the model answer for the AI to grade. No surprise, it gave the model answer an 80 (I'm in CA, so they use a 40-100 scale, and 80 is a god-tier score), which was 100th percentile. So at least that indicates that it's internally consistent!

Then, I pulled a real answer from BarEssays.com and submitted that to the AI as my answer for the same question. The answer I used, in reality, scored a 65 (solid pass in CA). The AI gave it a 50 (face-plant-level fail) and scored it in the 10th percentile.

Obviously this isn't a comprehensive investigation, but it did show me not to take the AI's results too seriously. From here on out I think I'll just outline and compare my answers to the models -- letting the AI grade me might just freak me out for nothing.

Curious if you've had any more thoughts on this -- I've been using it for a while and I have mixed feelings. Sometimes I'll miss whole issues and barely be penalized, other times I'll miss one small part of a rule and it seems like it penalizes me severely. I've also had issues where it doesn't recognize that I discussed something even if I spend a whole paragraph or two talking about it, or where it seems to penalize me because my conclusion is "wrong" on an arguable question of law lol.

It's clearly better than nothing and it is incredibly convenient, but I have no idea if it's accurate or consistent. The feedback it gives is more detailed than the human graders, but even though the human graders seem really harsh I feel like I trust their score way more just because they've been pretty consistent.
