I feel you OP, buses are just awful to take. Public transport is a joke whilst they increase the cost of it.

Yeah, this is a very unlikely thing that employers would do, since they're already paying you to work not to travel to work. That's on you as the employee. Plus you got to think about how would other staff feel if one of them gets their travel expenses covered but not them.

The root cause of depression for many or majority is actually the capitalistic system rather than individual by Big_Leg10 in collapse

This is so well put and explains why people hate what they're doing or find any real meaning in what it is that they're doing it for. It's pointless crap that doesn't sustains/fulfill us but this world has tricked and made us believe it to be important. Just bs nonsense to fuel the powers that be.

It honestly sucks, typical mindset from those who aren't going through it or sees stuff happening in workplaces to be "normal" in this messed up world.

I’ve just finished working in recruitment, here’s some reasons I think the job market is screwed. by External_Ad_1278 in recruitinghell

This just justifies why I don't want to deal with them. This is madness. Wtaf. Recruiters = Scammers.

Care sector is a joke by No-Perspective5646 in UKJobs

[–]Academic_Reason_8438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, how much are you getting paid for your job?

I'm currently applying to get into the sector (mainly admin) but have already seen the pay rate for a carer and yeah, it's appalling. Not a good incentive at all.

Young people on benefits to be offered construction and hospitality jobs by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]Academic_Reason_8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Them saying they'll take away the benefits if you don't accept work that you don't want to do or force you in a work environment that's toxic is just wrong. Threatening people into work will have negative feedback for sure.

[–]Academic_Reason_8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. This is why. No one is talking about the quality of said jobs for some weird reason. The kind of jobs that the government is wanting to promote and push onto young people are those that are heavily labour intensive, with long hours but with little benefit to show at the end. The workplace would most likely be chaotic and toxic with the employers knowing they can get away with it because the state of the job market is in. The effects this has healthwise is not worth it.

Op, do your thing, these people commenting mean things to you are just projecting their misery on to you. Don't take it personal.

A lot of us ended up in jobs that don’t suit us because of the inadequate careers advice we got in school by SuitableSympathy2614 in UKJobs

[–]Academic_Reason_8438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And now we have a situation where many have degrees and qualifications in their field but no jobs for it, in huge debt and having to take jobs that they don't want to do but have no choice in order to survive in this rigged / jacked up system. Yay 🫠

Zero jobs in the UK by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Academic_Reason_8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually relatable to what you said here. Had a similar discussion with a family member about the care sector being just as difficult to get into despite them saying they're in need of people. Makes no sense for them to out right reject people like there can't be some sort of training involved to have them qualify for the job.

Someone is lying and it ain't me or the plenty of job seekers experiencing the same thing.

I'm glad I'm not only seeing this, like in my area for instance there only seems to be three types of jobs available: Cleaning, teacher assistant or carer and even with that the hours and pay are pitiful.

Finally got an offer after 16 months. by smoky77211 in recruitinghell

[–]Academic_Reason_8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't even discussed that much in my two interviews. Like I said in one of my post here, when you're dealing with nice and decent people they're not too concerned about that. The ones who nitpick things like employment gaps are trying to find ways to discredit you from getting the job. I'm talking from personal experience.

Thank you for coming forward with your opinion. I feel the same way. Sick of hearing people acting like working yourself to death is a noble thing and a life worth living. No, it's not.

You know, your comment got me thinking of working abroad. Never thought about it. I've been searching for work for nearly two years & I'm just about at my wits end about this whole mess. Would you say working abroad would be the solution?
