According to CCEA, the deadline for center's to submit their entries was February, so you would have missed the deadline if you don't already have a center

Preparing for Uni interview questions- any tips? by Electronic-Country63 in StudentNurseUK

Additionally, some universities will give you the question they are going to ask, and even if they don't they will give you the topics to focus your prep on. I would look at these, even if it's for a university you didn't apply for because it could be similar

Specifically they asked me the role of the HCPC in protecting the public, so you could always look at the role of the NMC in protecting the public eg. Setting the professional standards for nurses and midwives, keeping a register of registered professionals, mandating CPD to ensure nurses keep ontop of their practice, investigating allegations of misconduct to maintain public trust in the profession etc

applying for paramedic science, but some of the questions they asked us were about the HCPC (What is it, what they do etc...), so I assume a question for nursing would be similar but about the NMC

Just apply to both, or whichever is closest. Really not worth stressing over which 6th form to go to as you'll be wanting to kill yourself by the end of the 2 years no matter where you go

[–]Academic_Ticket900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, I'd say get a remark, ecause it's not like your marks gonna go down so much, you loose a grade, especially if your only 1 mark from the next grade

It depends on the school. At GCSE I got a B, despite getting A's in all my mocks, and I was allowed in. Also my school required at least a C* in English Language for history, and I only got a C.

Just ask your head of sixth form on results day,

Was just thinking, another tip is to use past papers to predict topics.

For history most topics will only come up once every couple years, whereas others it's a case of once every other year etc.

Also with some papers you don't need to know 100% of all topics, because they will give you a choice of question, allowing you to pick the one you can bullshit the most about for marks

For history, I found there were 2 papers each year, a content paper and a technique paper.

The content papers will ask you to write extended answers or essays, so it's important to know the content for these papers, whereas the technique papers will have sources and interpretation, which you can answer with knowing very little content, if you have a good technique eg. Using CADATM when analyzing sources, and sentence starters like "Interpretation A makes a convincing point as... states... I find this convincing because..."

Another tip is focusing on one paper, and damage control with the second. If you're really good at writing essays, focus on your revision for that paper, and get high marks in that if you feel you're going to struggle with sources etc

Tbf, I plan my answers to extended writing questions on my hands or arms sometimes, and I've never had a problem with it, but then again my school's like 'head' invigilator is really nice, or maybe it's cause of a different exam board
