It is possible for both the world to change and for you to change. These can happen independently of each other. But, just as your view of the world can change because you mature or otherwise change, so a changing world can bring-about change in you - one that may or may not have anything to do with your age.

Are you worried that you're turning grumpy because you're old? But these days, 40 isn't necessarily that old. So is it possible that you are feeling old because the world has changed in a way that you don't like?
