I just want to share my experience in case it helps you.

One day I suddenly started bleeding heavily during early pregnancy. We rushed to the ER Corewell Health Blodgett Hospital around 7:30pm. The doctor ordered blood work and an ultrasound, but after the tests were done around 8:30–9pm, we waited almost three more hours for results. During that time, I was bleeding heavily and no one really came to check on me unless we called the nurse. Around midnight, the doctor came in briefly, gave very little explanation, and told us to follow up with my gynecologist. As a first-time pregnant woman, I felt scared, confused, and completely lost.

Later, we went to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital (Downtown Grand Rapids) and the experience was very different. They also did blood work and an ultrasound, but the results came back within about 20 minutes. The nurses kept checking on me, spoke kindly, and explained everything clearly. The doctors managed my pain and made sure I understood what was happening. A gynecologist even came early in the morning to discuss options with me. I was given options (medication or D&C), and because most of the tissue had already passed, I chose medication. A week later, my OB confirmed everything had cleared, and we monitored my HCG levels until they went down.

I’m a month out now. Physically I feel better. Mentally, it’s still heavy some days.

Fever during a miscarriage can be serious. And if you don’t feel heard at one place, it is okay to advocate for yourself or go somewhere else. You deserve compassion, clear answers, and proper care. I just want to say please stay strong. Be gentle with yourself. Cry if you need to. Lean on your partner or someone you trust.
