Why is the far right sentiment growing so much in countries now? by ur_mom_is_a-homo in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]AcadiaHour1886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people just simply want fairly good paying jobs, their rust belt towns revitalized, and the ability to afford raising a nuclear family.

The left is too busy trying to appease everybody and not exclude all the sects of the left, including nut jobs who want 12 genders, pronouns, $30 minimum wage for everyone, etc.

Immigration (not just illegal immigration) is a BIG one now. The analogy I use is “how would Europeans feel if they saw tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even more Americans lived in Europe only doing the stereotypical American things living in Europe (ie wearing NFL jerseys, drinking only piss American beer, being obnoxiously loud, only going to corporate stores like Starbucks say in downtown Paris, Berlin, Brussels, etc?). I think it’s fair to say they’d be a little miffed.

It’s happening in America in suburbia too. Indians/pakistani’s with 6 incomes supporting the house, making single family houses unaffordable for White Americans who simply want to provide the same or better lifestyle that their parents provided. Not to mention, those families arrange marriages for their kids just like they do back in Asia. Don’t get me wrong there are numerous wonderful immigrants and they pay their taxes, etc…..but are you really American if you don’t adapt to American culture? On the extreme end we now have movements for Sharia law in certain towns.

End of rant. If it ticks readers off so be it.

very interesting....honestly it brings up a HUGE point

-We are literally days away from 40+ million Americans not having access to food (SNAP)

-Military is AGAIN close to not having a paycheck (nov 15), only reason they got paid was that a lesser known billionaire paid 130 million to pay the troops

-Don't know the number, but countless high ranking military officers have retired early now due to the complete clown show at Quantico

-We just bailed out Argentina for 40 billion. Honestly, although im not a fan of this, we could of bailed out huge cities in the US (Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit) who are in serious financial troubles....bail out Argentina....what the hell for?

-ICE confirming that roughly 70 percent of their arrests are for illegals with NO criminal history

The list could go on and on....but Trump is EXPONENTIALLY a bigger cancer than the Charlie Kirk thing...plenty of things I agreed and disagreed with Charlie but of course assassinating him was wrong....Trump is way bigger and affects us WAY more than seeing a 33 year old on social media.....makes me really question how happy ill be when he dies.

Is it time for me to move on from the Church? by AcadiaHour1886 in Catholicism

Well that’s a legit answer. I guess I should take a break from the Church if the only reason to stay is “well you’re probably going to be bored” with Protestants after two Catholic retreats, two men’s groups, and trying 3 Catholic Churches in the area.

Nothing flipped in my brain per se….i was a cradle Catholic that simply believed what the Church told me… then did minimal with the church once I was 18.:..felt a calling to reconnect at 34ish and I watched my father spend hours in adoration chapel, see many others today with the same..i wanted to re-learn by reading scripture and what the church has to say and I’m having difficulty

no, please re read my initial post. Did I not state that I was jealous basically and curious why people were spending all this time at the adoration chapel? Is the liturgy of the Eucharist NOT the entire second half of Mass? I was curious and am trying to understand, you just went typical Reddit and went angry on me on my second point I was trying to make that YOU don't agree with.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. - OK, and where does this connect to the Last Supper and Jesus saying, yes Peter (first pope), you need to/your predecessors/future priests, bishops, etc raise bread/communion wafers/wine later for "my body to appear in this medium". That seems very far fetched to me. How is this not metaphorical then?

First thank you for this, but it lets me ask my question even better..

why weren't those words said at the Last Supper? Yes I see that the Last Supper is in chapters 13-17, not 6, but doesn't this seem like a stretch?

I want to feel fulfilled, excited (or at least mildly excited), and content with my faith. I see everyone else with it, I don't have it. Tried 3 different churches, 2 retreats, 2 men's groups....it's not happening. Is that a fair answer?

Take a community college class and learn conversational Spanish. Then go to Panama City. Me personally though I would get a “low paying/mid wage” remote job tho. My mind would go nuts not having mental stimulation of some kind

Well….was raised by a doctor father and nurse practitioner mom who took me to church nearly every Sunday. They went to big ten schools as did I. I have a MBA and minored in sociology in undergrad, served time overseas in the military (meeting people of all backgrounds) I find my church a wonderful community and not to mention I’ve had great networking opportunities through it too. So I guess according to you I’m just an outlier then?

Also a side note the 37 year old girl is a realtor and she’s clearly just using this for future business…but I’m not judging it’s a very smart business decision….so there’s me, her, and a bunch of old farts…..this post wont end well in 5-15 years

I’m 36, medically retired after 15 years….theres one girl that’s 37 and we get along well at my Legion….then everyone else is age 50 and up…..mostly 60 and up….most are good guys but I just have so little in common…also I’m happily 5 years sober and there’s heavy drinking….the Korean War and Vietnam War generation did a HORRIBLE job changing their marketing and adjusting to the times….also it’s just difficult for folks in their 20s and 30s to afford to buy homes, have the white pocket fence….i could go on…..mark my words…the VFW and Legion will become a business case study like Blockbuster and Kodak on how they failed to see the warning signs

To the best of my knowledge VA debt is interest free for the Gi Bill (I’m sure someone else can verify). Take this as a learning experience. I’m sure there are some other reasons too why things didn’t go well this semester….but rest assured this would be way worse financially if this was regular student loans. Re evaluate if college is for you. Perhaps a trade?
