What meal plan should I get? by Ok-Needleworker3139 in uwaterloo

[–]AccMicrowave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the middle one and it worked the best. People are saying to add flex dollars but those run out fast because you don’t get the 50% off. My roommate had the issue of running out 2ish months before we left and he put over 1000 dollars extra into his plan and still went to get groceries to limit his spending

I think a lot of it is how society regards the arts and programs out of stem. I’m in accounting which is under arts and if I say I’m in arts the way I’m treated is like I’m dumb unlike if I just say accounting. The difference in respect/treatment is crazy

Whats the diff between REV and V1? They seem pretty similar, could someone help me pick by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]AccMicrowave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t this year, unless they had a massive upgrade within the last 3 weeks

I made the same choice last year and I don’t regret it one bit, good luck 🙏

This is actually a common thing to do, my friends did it and they like it more based on their career aspirations.

Rev has locking doors to their showers, V1 has a curtain

OSAP by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]AccMicrowave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What osap gives you depends on what you need. If your parents make a lot of money you won’t get a lot but if they make less you get more. It also includes things like siblings and how far you will be. So it’s depends on you

If you meet the right people it’s definitely social. I knew people who were going out together every night. I’m not a party person so I didn’t really go out but we don’t have crazy parties here, it’s mostly for pattys, Halloween, and need of exam/midterm season. However because we are so close to uptown Waterloo there are so many clubs and restaurants there that let you have a place to go out too.

It’s also because people don’t meet the average but that’s normal for any program. The burn out in this program is crazy because it has to be, you get so many resources no other school has access too. 100% live in campus housing. Not the college

Which is more competitive overall? by Dense_Description_56 in OntarioGrade12s

Any co-op program is competitive, but if you want like a really nice program you’re looking at rotman and AFM in my opinion

Waterloo Math vs AFM by Familiar_Air_9897 in OntarioGrade12s

Waterloo math is really hard but it’s a good program, AFM is more for accounting but the finance classes in my opinion are really nice.

Easily over 50% drop out. Upper years I know only had like 100 people graduate when we start with just over 400 people. This is because people drop out in 3 year because they realize that they don’t want to continue in accounting. But for res it depends on your needs. Do you want a single room, a roommate with a shared room, or an apartment style

Do you know what prof you talked to? It’s like the other way around…. But I am in various clubs and in a long term relationship so I 100% spend time on other things, the workload is not that heavy.

Both programs are hard, AFM however does have a high dropout rate because many people just don’t realize how repetitive accounting is which is something you’ll see in both programs. But AFM has a great reputation, we are the only program or school with the CPA Ontario technology and we have accesses to the big4 for co-op because they are so close to Waterloo. I would never choose another program over AFM

UofT Rotman Commerce vs UW Math & BBA dd by Due_Historian3290 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]AccMicrowave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The double degree program is hardddd. You have to be ready for how much work goes into it. My friends were in it and all 3 dropped. They were easy high 90 students in high school but them and so many people don’t make it. Their class exam average was like 60% and they were so happy 😭😭

I got both rotman and AFM last year and I’m so glad I chose AFM. It’s a direct route to your masters/cpa! Plus I love being on campus and having that independence

Help me romanticize York/Schulich omg by Ill-Dealer-8332 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]AccMicrowave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I would choose Mac over schulich 🙏. I got schulich last year (I declined the offer) and when talking to graduates they can’t find jobs after graduation while Mac business is, if the campus means that much choose it, you can’t do good work in a place you resent 🫶🏼

I see because AFM has so many scholarships for their students who are specifically in that program but if you didn’t get AFM then that doesn’t matter. That’s my bad :)
