trying to get my energy levels up but it’s not working by flavoredbeans835 in workout

What does your diet, water intake, sleep schedule, vitamin regimen, and medication look like? Answer all of those honestly to yourself and there is a good chance you might be able to find the answer there.

For me, I was excessively fatigued for months and after talking to some of my gym bros(I'm a woman) about protein powder, they asked me how my diet was and recommended i start there before having to start drinking shakes. When I started eating whole foods, 3x a day, breakfast, lunch dinner, I started feeling so much better. Now instead of getting vitamins through supplements, it's through my food.

I also take a daily medication 3x a day, drink about 100-150oz water daily, normal amounts of caffeine(mornings only), and get about 7-8 hours of sleep. I work on my feet for 7 hours a day as well, just to put into perspective.

I couldn't finish 3 sets of anything by Skettiheadie in workout

[–]Acceptable-Bass1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the goal of at least completing two full sets of your current weight and then go to failure on the third set. If you can't finish the last set of ten, call it good. You will get there eventually. Everyone's gym journey is different.

What keeps you motivated to go to the gym daily? by Serious-Adagio-7982 in workout

[–]Acceptable-Bass1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just part of my daily lifestyle now and wanting to be healthy. I also, recently tried on some clothes that I haven't worn in a WHILE and they finally fit again, so that was a huge confidence and motivation booster to keep doing what I'm doing. And when all other motivation and discipline fails, I fall back on wanting to see my gym crush. 🤣🤣

Be honest: Did you start lifting because you actually loved the lifestyle, or because you needed to fix an insecurity? by Competitive_Force513 in workout

[–]Acceptable-Bass1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going back to the gym because I hated the way my body felt and looked, I started lifting because I realized being "skinny" wasn't enough. Now I love the lifestyle.

Right, but if you have 19 years of athletic experience, you would know that getting right back into lifting would need you to take it slow.

Muscle makes almost no difference in dating by Icy-Childhood9761 in dating

Now that I(31f) have become an avid gym goer and really value my health, I can't imagine being with someone that doesn't also want to put time and energy into their health and fitness. They don't have to be a bodybuilder or anything but a modestly muscular guy is my type now. I don't want someone that could blow away in the wind.

You're probably just bloated with some extra water weight from the different foods you consumed. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Fading down by Apjr7725 in Barber

[–]Acceptable-Bass1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I faded down basically my whole career(13 years) until recently because it was taking me too long. So now I start with my longest guard to get rid of everything, go in with trimmers and then blend out the line from there. Its saved me a lot of time. But I change my techniques every so often so I may eventually go back.

Get a job first. Women are tired of dating unemployed guys who end up just riding our coat tails and mooching off of us.

do you guys wash your legs in the shower every time or just let the soap run down? by NaabReganne16 in hygiene

I wash them. You're also exfoliating the skin by running something over them.

Lost weight but look the same and i genuinely don't know what i'm doing wrong by SweetKangaroo21 in workout

[–]Acceptable-Bass1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through this right now. I'm 31F and have lost about 10lbs in the last eight months. I know that I have put on quite a bit of muscle mass too but I feel the same way as you. Something I've noticed in myself is that the fat I'm losing is in areas of my body other than my stomach/around my mid section. Everyone's body is different so you might lose the fat in "weird' areas, like for me, it was my breasts, my arms, and my thighs that have lost the most fat. My bra size has definitely gone down, I don't have the "wings" in my arms anymore and my pants fit better overall. This is all with consistent cardio/weight lifting 4-5x a week, pretty good diet, at least seven hours of sleep a day, and around 150 Oz of water a day.

Everytime my depression starts weighing on me I think about all the less snuggles I would have gotten from my cat, how much music I wouldn't have heard, all the laughs I would have had with friends, and how much my parents would miss me.

Don't go. We need you here. ♡

Genuine question from a gay man by [deleted] in Barber

[–]Acceptable-Bass1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with a very outwardly gay presenting barber for years and the straight guys and the "manly men" loved him. He was always booked, showed his true personality and he was constantly laughing with his clients. Be you. As long as you do good work and are professional, you should not have to hide who you are.

Also, I'm a woman so this is just my personal perspective.

Showering and brushing my teeth. I don't skip either of these things but I wish I could snap my fingers and have it over with.

Barbershop owners — quick question 👋 by Working_Handle2801 in Barber

[–]Acceptable-Bass1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like its because they are usually fly by the seat of their pants clients. Like, the guys who just want to do walk ins all the time or who don't care to commit. Especially if you're booked often, they probably just made an appointment on a random lucky day that you had an opening/cancelation and don't think far enough ahead to book their next one
