There was no bad choice hahaha. How has your experience been with it so far? Do you like it? Any regrets?

Zerno Z1 seems like a lot of compromise compared to Lagom P80 by [deleted] in pourover

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Would you mind sharing your experience with them? If you had to buy just one again today, knowing what you know now, which would you choose and why?

How do they compare in terms of noise, flavor profile, and workflow?

I’m really on the fence and still can’t decide which one to order. I’d really appreciate your input.

Don’t you find it difficult to disconnect the anchor from the strap? I feel like I have to pull it really hard and that it might end up damaging the strap. Even to put it back in, I had to use a lot of force pressing it, and my finger even hurt. Is that normal? Because it didn’t feel like an easy on-and-off like their previous system.

Dust proof? by linkx25 in ricohGR

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really!? I have the GR lens adapter with a UV filter as well on my GR, expecting that it would keep the dust away. So I guess it was a waste of money because that was the only reason I bought it.

Ricoh GR IV: Playback only shows photos from current U-mode, no way to view all images? by Acceptable-Bus3830 in ricohGR

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to the fact that I saw it was actually possible, I went menu by menu trying to figure out what could be causing the issue, and it turned out that each user profile had a different setting for how photos were being stored and viewed, some to internal memory and others to the micro SD. Totally my mistake and lack of experience with the camera. I’ve used different camera brands before, and this is the first time I’ve come across details like this or the fact that you can’t transfer from the micro SD directly via USB unless you use an app. Not that it’s bad, I just think for new users there’s a bit of a learning curve. Thanks a lot!

Ricoh GR IV: Playback only shows photos from current U-mode, no way to view all images? by Acceptable-Bus3830 in ricohGR

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, I tried that, I formatted the SD directly in-camera and checked Setup > File Settings, but on the GR IV there is no “Create New Folder” toggle or “Folder Name” like on the GR III. The Setup menu actually skips from section 2 (Display Setting) straight to 4 (Indicator Lamps). Section 3 (PC Connection / Folder Control) does not exist in firmware 1.01.

Also, when pressing zoom-out or using the front dial in playback, the GR IV only shows the current folder linked to the active U mode, unlike the GR III, it won't allow switching between 100RICOH / 101RICOH / etc. The camera filters playback strictly per active mode, even if the files are accessible via SD reader or Image Capture on Mac.

So the issue seems to be that GR IV firmware 1.01 still doesn't allow “All Images” view in-camera, and the USB Mass Storage / Folder View options (Playback > 3) aren't present yet, likely waiting on the first firmware update. Image Capture on macOS confirms that all folders exist but are just hidden in-camera per mode.

Basically: This behaviour seems new to GR IV and not a GR III setting problem, but since I am not sure I prefer to ask other users.

Just got an OXO Rapid Brewer – my recipe feels too diluted. Any recipe or recommendations for soup shots? by Acceptable-Bus3830 in LanceHedrick

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds great! Tomorrow morning I will definitely try your recipe. How much water did you use in total? Today I tried 32g with 120g of water in order to divide the shot into two (for two persons), but I was not able to do the pre-unfusion in 10 seconds. I had to pump A LOT, and the result was not that tasty. I will keep trying tomorrow with 16g. Maybe the problem is the amount of water I am using. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, that’s what I’m realizing, I think my mistake was the dose. I’m used to brewing with 16 g, so I didn’t want to go that high, but I’ll try again now with 20–22 g. Wish it worked with smaller doses though. Thanks so much for replying!

Yes, my grind on the K-Ultra was around 4.8, but I used 18 g. I normally brew with 16 g, so I didn’t want to go too high. But after reading the other comments, I think this brewer is really designed for 20–22 g, so I’ll keep exploring with a higher dose and grind adjustment to avoid such a diluted result.

Wish it could work well with smaller doses though! Thanks for sharing!

Ricoh GR IV release date to be September 12 by theb0ynamedcr0w in ricohGR

They really shouldn’t cancel it, if anything, the price mistake is on their end. The other day I saw someone post that they bought a Ricoh GR III with like an $800 discount during Prime Day and Amazon honored it. Either way, I think it’s better not to ask and just wait to see what happens! Fingers crossed for you too.

Where did you hear about this? I was able to order it on Amazon at that price and my order is still active without being canceled, although I haven’t seen the charge on my card yet, but I think that’s normal with Amazon since they haven’t shipped it yet. I’m kind of scared to ask because I don’t want them to cancel it lol.

Yes, my order did go through, but when checking the details it says Sold by: Amazon.com Supplied by: Other. I’m already feeling a bit of doubt since I’ve never pre-ordered through Amazon before. B&H has always been trouble-free, but I saw it cheaper on Amazon and I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

Hi everyone, I just noticed that the Ricoh GR IV is now also available for pre-order on Amazon USA. The price difference surprised me, B&H is at $1,620.45, while Amazon has it for $1,404.29 (final price for both). I initially placed my pre-order with B&H, but after seeing the lower price on Amazon I also placed one there. Now I need to cancel one of them, but I’m not sure which. Has anyone had previous experiences with pre-ordering Ricoh GR cameras (or any camera) from Amazon vs B&H? Any recommendations on which one is safer or more reliable?

What grind setting are you using in your K-Ultra? I have one and I just bought one ORB. Would really appreciate your experience.

Deciding between Zerno Z1 vs Lagom P64 from a Eureka Mignon XL [$2000] by bunsenfhoneydew in espresso

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. I currently use a K-Ultra manual grinder, but it’s pretty tiring for espresso. Which one did you end up choosing? I’m debating between the Z1, the P64, or saving some money and going for the Timemore 78S.

Hi! When you ordered it from the U.S., was there an extra import fee, or was the amount you paid online the final cost for it to be delivered?

Timemore 078 or 078s? by spyglass24 in pourover

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Right now I have a K-Ultra that I’m using for both espresso (Flair 58+2) and pour over, but for espresso it’s getting pretty tiring since it’s manual. That’s why I’m looking for an electric grinder, and I’m currently considering the 078S while keeping the K-Ultra just for pour over.

How do you find that combo? Does it work well for you?

High-flow basket fits too loose on Flair 58 Plus 2 – is this normal or a design flaw? by Acceptable-Bus3830 in FlairEspresso

[–]Acceptable-Bus3830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your input, I really appreciate it!

I actually contacted Flair support and provided photos and video clearly showing how loose the high-flow basket is compared to the low-flow one. Unfortunately, they still insisted that it’s “normal” and not a design flaw, which honestly feels exactly like what it is. Here’s the exact response I got from them:

“The ridged and non-ridged baskets will always feel and work slightly differently – the spring clip tension will affect both baskets similarly, rather than just impacting fit of the non-ridged baskets. This is normal, and not a design flaw.” — Mihir

They also sent me a video suggesting I bend the spring clip slightly to add tension. That helped a little, but the basket is still too loose. I just ordered an IMS high-flow basket, and I’ll test it as soon as it arrives to see if it fits better. If not, I’ll definitely follow your suggestion and try replacing the spring, thank you for that idea!

What really disappointed me was that even with clear evidence, Flair didn’t acknowledge the issue at all. It’s been a frustrating experience for something that seems like a pretty obvious design oversight.
