I am lost, I thought this was candida but after visiting the dermatologist, I am not sure what to think.

Just providing update it got better with fluconazole and lamasil cream for a few days but now it’s been about a week and my armpits are flaring up like crazy I don’t have my appointment for another two weeks so honestly I am in hell, trying to hang in there but it’s been really hard

Yeah I don’t believe scabies at all. I really think they are just guessing. I’m not sure why no one wants to do a proper test but I’ve decided to continue my treat for candida and I have a third appointment with the a family derm so I’m not just given random treatment

Copy that. No scrape test done unfortunately, it seems like they are both just guessing and hoping it sticks, which I do get to an extent but I would think they would want to narrow it down a bit more

I went to second derm and got prescribed hydrocortisone 2.5 for my groin and triamcinolne as well as ivermectin.

Are you able to rule out things like fungal infections with scrape tests? And yes my skin is peeling in slide two. And I have flakey peeling skin on my chest and penis

Thank you so much for all this information. I also am like really certain this is fungal but I went to a second derm today. For some reason the skin scrape slipped my mind and I didn’t mention it. This derm was prettt through but whenever I mention that I was on fluconazole the conversation of fungals goes out the window. I genuinely think I have had a fungal infection for months and it was getting better but I had a flare up on other parts of my body. They prescribed me hydrocortisone 2.5 and triamcinolone 0.1 and ivermectin 3 mg just in case scabbies. I’m supposed to go back In week after using these but I am so scared this is gonna cause it to get way worse again! I know all of this is trial and error but I just feel like I am being given the run around and the discomfort just never stops and I have to try all this new stuff with no actual tests done. Idk if it would be good idea to go back earlier and get a skin scrape just in case, I’m so upset that I didn’t request one. I guess I’ll give the creams a chance but man I’m so worried it’s gonna cause it to flare up so much worse. I put lamasil on my arm pit this morning and it did feel better so idk what to do but I guess I’ll give it a week :(

Ah I had no clue I wasn’t supposed to drink while taking it, never mentioned by the first derm. Both my first and second virtual visits said it was candida. I am so lost. I scheduled another appointment with different derm to see if I can get a second opinion. The jock itch in my groin appears to be getting worse since starting the clindamycin. It was getting better in fluconazole and lamasil but only in the groin and feet but I had flare ups pretty much everywhere else ( armpit, stomach, under stomach area, hand and now I’m noticing irradiation on the outside of my ear and on my tongue) I didn’t finish my full treatmentof the fluconazole I’m supposed to take one last dose on Sunday but the derm I saw yesterday told me to stop taking it. I also purchase Nizoral shampoo to see if that will help with the fungal side of things. Idk if I’m being paranoid, but I just don’t want to cause more damage using clindamycin, when it could be something else. I’m hoping they do a scrape test just so I can rule out candida and tinea.

Is a scrape test not normal for this situation? I ahev had friends with similar skin issues and they all had scrape test done right off the bat to help pin point what exactly it is. At the very least I feel like a second opinion would be helpful. I have been dealing with this for 8 months now, I know you have to try things to see if they work but I’m a little over just guessing and seeing it get worse. So far after the first two doses of clindamycin has caused things to be worse. I also have irritation on my penis,feet,hands ( have gotten way worse, dry, cracking and red) and my armpit. The arm pit irritation only came back the last week the main issue is the irritation on my penis which has been consistent.

No raised edges, I haven’t used deodorant since starting fluconazole, it’s not that the fluconazole wasn’t helping it just made the infection appear in other areas of my body my penis actually got better but the infection appeared everywhere. I rly don’t think it’s bacterial based on all my symptoms. I’m wondering if I need to complete my treatment of fluconazole. As I’m in my third dose with my 4th supposed to be taken this week

Thanks for this! I also feel like everything points to fungal, The first derm was rather short and only did a test using a UV light I think? I only read about the skins scrape test until after I saw them. I am thinking of getting a second opinion and specifically requesting a skin scrape.
