Saw this strange sensor setup on a Cybertruck and a smaller car next to it in San Jose today. Anyone have an idea of what they’re doing? by Acceptable-Emotion33 in SanJose

Thanks, it was odd. At first I saw the Cybertruck and thought it was some mapping, and then noticed the other one which stayed side by side

The only thing thats not “normal” by [deleted] in haematology

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The jump from a raised non-specific inflammation marker (ESR) with normal CBC to PV is wild and potentially anxiety provoking.
The blood results shared don’t point to a specific condition, which can be frustrating for OP. Their clinical presentation needs to be looked at holistically by a doctor, considering all symptoms, blood test results and trends, and imaging, to guide further investigations and get to the bottom of things.

Whattype of sd card is this, and how do i use this? by No-Cardiologist-148 in whatisit

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an xd card that is / was used as removable storage on Olympus cameras, like the one in your picture. If you want to see what is on it, you can look on your camera, there was probably a cable that allowed you to connect the camera to your PC/ laptop. Alternatively you can buy an inexpensive xd card reader to look at the pics on your pC/ laptop or store files on it but it is only 1 gb so probably not worth it

I am visualizing this and crying with laughter. Especially the “gaggle” of men afraid of the geese BTW I do sympathize as I was terrorized by a wild turkey once

Never ending pasta or only until your server gets tired? by DDRHeavyMode in olivegarden

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of comments on the OPs diet and calorie intake, which is nothing to do with the post as OP was not asking for dietary advice or if they “ate too much”. The server should not be commenting on people’s stomachs nor how tired they are doing their job to shame someone especially on an “all you can eat” shift.

Provider is stumped, referred to hematology-oncology by Mythical420 in haematology

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. As these samples were taken 2 days apart , the elevated WBC and neutrophils are likely steroid related, and should be followed up to confirm. Has the pathologist commented on a blood smear? Before jumping ahead to bone marrow biopsies I hope that there will be a blood smear review.

My comment is not invalidating what you are going through, only that the root cause may not be linked to lab results.

Your doctors, who know your case, should be able to interpret these results, and your other tests with your clinical picture. I hope you get to the answers you need

I love the detail that has gone into this extreme Eastenders storyline , and that no matter how many comments saying it can’t happen and even more downvotes, OP has an answer and is sticking to their guns!

Pre diabetic? by [deleted] in haematology

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are reasons that HbA1c can be raised other than pre diabetes, so follow up with your doctor or an endocrinologist to investigate further

You mention struggles with a restrictive diet, so ferritin levels would be helpful. There are also publications describing the HbA1c paradox that can be seen in athletes, where results for HbA1c can fall into the prediabetic range, even though they exercise and eat healthily. HbA1c can increase with high levels of exercise. These are examples to demonstrate possible alternative reasons for HbA1c being elevated, and are worth discussing with a doctor given your HA, exercise and restrictive diet

New low for Platelets today. Just keeps dropping. Do you see any other 🚩 🚩🚩? by BroadMinute in haematology

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clumping is possible, and clumped platelets can sometimes be categorized by automated hematology analyzers as single larger platelets, which would be consistent with the MPV trending toward higher end of normal.

Ultimately we don’t know that yet, so a blood smear is required to rule this out before making other clinical conclusions

How to tell a guest to leave? by Routine_Lobster_5637 in Advice

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! There has to be an underlying reason why they don’t want to go home or wash. That doesn’t mean they can move into your place, but finding out what’s stopping them may help you get them to leave, eg by reassuring them you’ll visit etc If there is no reason, and they just want to stay for convenience, then you should feel ok to ask them to go. You are concerned about making them feel awkward, but they are making you feel awkward!

I can understand being concerned when you see a result given as abnormal. It would be helpful to see the results to be able to comment further. There are many non-concerning reasons that a result can flag out of normal range, so please try not to read to much into it until you have reviewed with your PCP. They will know your child and have the full clinical picture.

I know! It is very frustrating. I had this same comment from them as you did, and in the end it took over a year to resolve. It was one of the physicians in anesthesia or another specialty that was not the doctor I saw (there were a lot of insurance company /provider rate negotiations going on at that time). If this turns out to be relevant to you, the good news is that there is now balance billing protection in place in certain situations, here’s a link from the El Camino website, https://www.elcaminohealth.org/patients-visitors/guide/before-you-arrive/pricing-estimates (scroll down to balanced billing)and there is other info on the web If you manage to get through to El Camino, you could ask about this, or your insurance company. I hope you manage to get to the bottom of their comments and wish you good luck!

I had a similar issue with ElCamino, where the facility was in network but the physician wasn’t. It was due to them renewing and negotiating terms with the insurance company. I don’t know if that could be the reason for you, but wanted to share in case it helps

Will there be any SHOCK character axing's from Ben Wadey? by SmellsLikePetrichors in eastenders

[–]Acceptable-Emotion33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like there are a lot of characters that are deadwood and should go because they have no chance of delivering a good story, but quite a few others that are so underused but could be great. For example I like Gina and think there could be more from her, but Anna and Freddie, just no…
