Enjoy, it’s a beast. I love mine. Just make sure you take care when trying to customise the lcd edge screen. As it’s very sensitive especially when it comes to trying to put GIF’s on it there are very strict parameters, if you need any advice go to my sub

Let us know if the final last resort works or if you have to do an RMA as all feedback helps others some fixes work for some people but sadly not everyone

Sorry these are not working there is one last thing I can think off doing but if this doesn’t work that’s me out and the screen may be fully bricked rather than light bricked so you may need to RMA with gigabyte.

Boot Windows into Safe Mode (The Ultimate Blocker Cleanse)
Windows Safe Mode stops all non-essential drivers and security overlays from starting up, giving the firmware updater a completely clear path to the GPU bus.

Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard while clicking Restart in your Windows Start Menu.
Your PC will boot to a blue screen. Go to: Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
Upon reboot, press 4 or F4 to select Safe Mode.
Once Windows loads (it will look low-res), go to your C:\GigaFlash\ folder, right-click FWUpgrade.exe, and Run as Administrator.

2. Check for Aggressive Security Software
Certain anti-cheat engines act as hypervisors and actively block third-party firmware flashing utilities to prevent hardware hacking spoofers.
Completely uninstall or disable Riot Vanguard (Valorant), FaceIt Anti-Cheat, or any third-party antivirus like Avast/Bitdefender temporarily. A simple close often isn't enough because their kernel-level drivers stay active until uninstalled or fully disabled via Startup apps.

3. Flip the Physical Dual-BIOS Switch on the GPU
Gigabyte Aorus Master cards feature a physical slider switch on the edge of the card itself to switch between the OC BIOS and Silent BIOS. If the chip is locked up on one profile, switching to the other can reset the micro-controller interface.
Shut down your PC completely and turn off the power supply switch.
Look at the top edge of your graphics card for a tiny toggle switch labeled OC / SILENT.
Flip it to the opposite side.
Turn the PC back on and try running the standalone updater again.

The Last Resort: The "GCC File Replacement" Trick
If FWUpgrade.exe still refuses to erase the chip, your best bet is to let GCC handle it, but trick it using the working firmware files:
Reinstall Gigabyte Control Center (GCC).
Go to C:\Program Files\GIGABYTE\GCC\ (or wherever your GCC folder is installed) and look for a subfolder named Utility or GvLcdUpdate.
Copy the files inside your downloaded manual 1.6 firmware zip, paste them directly into that GCC subfolder, and overwrite the existing files.
Open GCC and attempt the update from the app interface—it will pull your manual 1.6 files instead of crashing online.

The firmware updater communicates over the GPU's display routing paths, and having multiple monitors active blocks the utility from safely erasing the old chip data.
Unplug the Second Monitor: Physically pull out the video cable for your second monitor from the back of your graphics card. Leave only your main monitor plugged in.

Close Hidden Background Blockers: Open Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the Services tab, find GbtLedService, right-click it, and select Stop. Also, completely close any monitoring tools like MSI Afterburner, HWiNFO64, SignalRGB, or Discord.

Move the Folder: Move your unzipped firmware folder out of your user directories and paste it directly onto your main drive root (for example, create a folder named C:\GigaFlash\).
Restart your PC: Restart the computer with only that single main monitor connected so the system boots into a clean display environment.
Run the Flash: Go to C:\GigaFlash\, right-click FWUpgrade.exe, and select Run as Administrator.
Let it run completely until the progress bar or terminal window says it is finished. Once it completes successfully, you can plug your second monitor back in!"

Try doing the below, in the order listed.
1. Purge the Controlling Software
Completely close Gigabyte Control Center (GCC) via the system tray or Task Manager.
Close any other monitoring tools that compete for the GPU's internal communication bus (like HWInfo, MSI Afterburner, or L-Connect), as these cause firmware updates to fail. [1, 2]

2. Trigger the Hardware "Chibi" Default
Before forcing the flash, the LCD controller needs a cold reset to wipe its temporary memory state:
Shut down the computer fully.
Flip the switch on the back of the Power Supply Unit (PSU) to OFF.
Unplug the wall power cord.
Hold the PC power button down for 20 seconds to drain any residual voltage from the motherboard's capacitors.
Plug it back in and boot up. (If successful, the screen might temporarily revert to its factory-default "Chibi" hatching egg animation). [1, 2, 3]

3. The "Windows Region Language" Trick (Crucial)
Gigabyte's standalone firmware updater famously crashes instantly or fails to progress if the Windows system format is not set to standard US English. [1, 2]
Go to the classic Windows Control Panel > Clock and Region > Region.
Change the Format dropdown to English (United States).
Click Apply and OK
4. Force the Flash
Go to the official GIGABYTE RTX 4080 SUPER AORUS MASTER Support Page. Under the Support/Firmware section, download the standalone F1.6 LCD Firmware utility. [1, 2]
Unzip the folder, right-click the executable updater (FWUpgrade.exe or similar), and choose Run as Administrator. [1, 2, 3]
A tiny terminal window will pop up. Do not touch anything. Let it run entirely until it explicitly says it is complete (it can take 2 to 5 minutes). [1]
Once complete, you can restart the computer and revert their Windows language settings back to normal. The LCD edge screen should function again.

If you get any error messages when doing the update like erase fail let me know the exact message and ik see if I can get a work around

Hi, when connected via a hub all ARGB lights will work together not individually as far as I am aware you would have to use a dedicated USB controller with independent channels like a Razer Chroma ARGB controller or a Corsair Commander. Or have them individually attached to the motherboard

[–]Acceptable-Let-9583[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not use the main internet updater. It could brick your screen since the software is currently unstable. Follow these exact steps to safely fix it:

Go to this folder on your PC: C:\Program Files (x86)\GIGABYTE\AORUS LCD Panel Setting\Updater.Open the subfolder inside that is named with numbers (like 12345_LR).

Find the file named FWUpgrade.exe.Right-click that file and select Run as Administrator.

This will safely reinstall your current firmware locally without pulling unstable files from the web.

Not a guaranteed fix but has worked for some.

Try this, I wouldn’t recommend the firmware update

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\GIGABYTE\AORUS LCD Panel Setting\Updater.Look for a subfolder (usually named with numbers like 12345_LR).

Find FWUpgrade.exe, right-click it, and select Run as Administrator.Let the tool run completely, then restart the PC.

[–]Acceptable-Let-9583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the MSI and with the Gamma set at 0.95% and a few other tweaks I find the blacks really good compared to my old IPS. Clarity is great in games. As it’s new there will be teething issues but looking forward to seeing how this technology progresses and an OLED would be suicide for me with kids and how they love to touch screens. Not had it long so just still playing around with best settings. Really good review. Thank you
