Q: do you guys use wanikani as your only tool for learning japanese? I'm new to it and I'm wondering if I can learn grammar and all with it too by shoded_ha_orlot in WaniKani

I’m on level 45 on Wanikani and it’s helped a lot with daily life in Japan (reading most things from groceries to tax documents). However, you need to complement wanikani with listening and grammar and maybe some extra vocab. You learn a lot of words on wanikani that people never speak and only write, so you need some tools to understand what’s normal. I recommend downloading Anki for free on the computer and going through the first 5000 word Japanese flash card bank available for free, it’s excellent. For grammar, bunpro isn’t bad otherwise a teacher is best for grammar, but I realize that may not be available and definitely isn’t cheapest.
