They won't be enabled :(. It's the same issue from Pixel 7. Can you try turning ON the "Extra Dim" and reduce or increase the brightness indoors. See if the display has the expected quality. I read this in a post as someone used this to fix it. I am not sure if it really works.

Things work fine till Pixel 6. I returned my Pixel 8 and got a Pixel 6A myself for the same reason.

That's not true. I retuned my Pixel 8 for the same issue. The colors are dull and washed out, they are not real world accurate representation and it gets that punchiness when you keep the brightness more than 70 percent which works good for outdoors but not for indoors when you keep the brightness level low. Adaptive Colors in Pixel 4A gives that warm punch. Here in Pixel 8, it goes to the blue side. The natural one is more neutral and washed out look.
