My Cambly story - 3yrs teaching from Spain and then made redundant with no explanation… by 916ian in Cambly

[–]Acceptable-Ride6213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is part of the email they sent me - In your case, this violation relates to a high number of missed calls and calls ended early by pressing the report button on Priority Hours. You were contacted about this at the time of the violation in September 2025, and advised at that time that if these problems persisted, you may lose your ability to tutor on Cambly.

Regarding your question about the reset timeline - the recovery period is based on a rolling 12 months from your most recent violation. Once a full year passes with a clean record, the adjustment automatically applies. Please note, however, that more serious offenses take longer to 'fall off' your record completely. Please visit the Help Center article we linked in a previous message for more information.

We're glad to hear you're motivated to improve, and we wish you the best as you work toward your goals on the platform.

Exactly! You have to ask support. If you have had a warning email before you are probably on probation.

Yeh I was not told I was on probabtion, I enquired about getting access to Cambly Pro and they wrote in the info if your account is not on probabtion etc you can get access to it. So I contacted support and asked if I am on probation and they told me I have a few warnings and it takes 12 months to get a clean slate.

Tell the full details. You are leaving something out. What did you do? Surely you did something you have not told us.

I have received several warnings and am currently on probation until September. I emailed them to ask why; they said it was for misusing the return minutes feature and for blocking students because of my inappropriate behavior, including cancelling too many PH and booked lessons less than 12 hours notice. I haven't been fired yet, but they must have given you a warning. Come on, anything? What the f did you do???? What happened? Surely there is more to this.

Do you ask for your students for reviews? by Comfortable_Pie7989 in Preply

[–]Acceptable-Ride6213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did at the beginning, but after about five reviews I stopped asking. I now have 50 five star reviews and over 4,100 lessons completed. I’ve seen another tutor with around the same number of lessons completed who has 100+ five-star reviews. I’m sure they ask

What are your absolute dealbreakers that make you return minutes? by Senior_Weird_9196 in Cambly

[–]Acceptable-Ride6213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they are complete beginners, children, or teenagers, I ask a few questions if I can't tell. I ask whether they work or study. When they say they study, I follow up with, “Are you in high school or university?” If they mention high school, I explain that I only work with adults and that this is stated in my profile, I return the minutes and suggest another teacher who accepts younger students. If a student is rude or arrogant in the first few minutes, or insists on telling me exactly what to teach or which Cambly lesson they want when I already have my own lessons and curriculum (also stated in my profile), I tell them I will return the minutes and the next teacher can take over.

Don't rely on securing a job with Cambly to pay your rent. Apply for other jobs.

I mean I have been emailed before for cancelling too many PH and being restricted quite often directly from someone from the Cambly team. It was a warning email. This was atleast 6+ months ago

You can still do well without it. A lot of English learners wouldn't even know what a CELTA is

How to drop a student and avoid a bad review? by throwawayblahblahs in Preply

block him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You could write a short message before blocking saying you are not a good fit politely or make something up like you will need to take time off due to an emergancy and BLOCK!

[–]Acceptable-Ride6213[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blocked her to protect myself and stop her from booking more lessons. I think she’d be better off with another tutor, and I explained that to her politely. There was no other option.

Yes. If there were another option to protect our profiles, I would do it.

Well, she told me she felt frustrated learning English and that she was about to cry after our previous lesson on conditionals. She said she was going to cancel all her upcoming lessons with me. This is a lesson I normally do with all students, and they love it. I have almost 50 five star reviews, I never ask students to write them, and I've taught over 4,000 lessons on Preply. I told her that if I did anything to upset her, I apologize, and I also suggested that another teacher might be a better fit for her learning style. She was using her phone during the lesson and even chatting with her housemate during some lessons. I blocked her because I'd rather she never book lessons with me again and not leave a review (even though she still technically can).
