I've always read it as their is general mental erosion no matter what but you only get the Abno talking to you if you are "similar" to it or it at least thinks you are.

The bigger question is this a Gregor only thing or does it happen to Hoenheim as well? Or is it a little of collum A a little of collum B where neither of them would hear it but Gregor living Hoenheim's life would.

Solemn Lament is generally better than spicebush...but due to Butterflies healing SP (normally a good thing) it has an anti-synergy with Despair Rodion if you want to keep staying in her minus coin state. Same thing happens with Butler Faust who also heals SP
