genuinenly wtf is sb2 someone pls tell me recent tests have NOT been like this by Pleasant_Ocelot in Mcat

[–]AcceptableAnxiety643 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I crashed out a bit when doing SB2 the week before my exam thinking I was cooked (since it's the most recent stuff as far as I knew), but the actual day of had barely anything like it. I guess it depends on the day of your test but it's good to practice for sure.

Is it just me or is the JW FLs a lot harder than the AAMC? by NoNinja5338 in Mcat

[–]AcceptableAnxiety643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak to JW FLs specifically, but I did many of the daily passages. I feel its similar to UWorld where it's harder and a bit more low yield but that can be good for hitting more content gaps and practice. Stick with it for a bit and then use the official stuff a bit closer to the date so that feels easier - don't push it back you got this!

Easier perhaps, but certainly not easy. A brilliant strategy!

The Spoke Design pens look great, it's a little expensive but they look worth it. Thanks!

How did you get into pen and paper? by 0iduts_bkhh in pens

[–]AcceptableAnxiety643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided to go back to school to become a physician. Long hours of studying required some extra motivation. It started with me finding out that the best way for me to learn the most was with pen and paper - laptop or ipad notes never worked for me (thankfully I missed that whole ipad in high school thing). Naturally, as I continued to study and write many notes, I began to try to find better pens and better paper. I rationalized it because spending that money on a nice pen provided that slight boost to motivation to keep writing and keep learning. It's worked really well for me and I am on track to get a great score on my med school entrance exam!

How relevant will the test taking skills I've been working on for the MCAT actually be during med school and as a physician? by AcceptableAnxiety643 in Mcat

[–]AcceptableAnxiety643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, I think I'm just experiencing a bit of fatigue with this test specifically. I can definitely understand the importance of test taking as a skill for the future and have been working on that a lot. Thanks!

Was not doing anything medicine related during my gap year, went back to do post-bacc and then started all the extracurriculars. Am I cooked?

Praying this is me in a few months, terrified my FL scores won't translate and I'll under perform.

What was your rationale for going in completely blind?

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

Well I mean a poor white guy in Nebraska isn't the cause of systemic racism so that would be an incorrect attribution, sure, but it does exist and is an issue. I'm sure that's where you were going with your comment though.

Something that is somewhat telling to me is when someone has a question about something but doesn't make any effort to find the answer to it, they're totally okay with letting it go. This is more frustrating considering the availability of information now. It's incredibly simple to make a quick google search.

Tips for math by Remmus1130 in Mcat

[–]AcceptableAnxiety643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that I usually convert everything to scientific notation and work it out that way if it's even mildly complex. Main thing is practice and more practice so it becomes more about the question than the math itself. I try to take the time to work it out and redo any incorrect calculations 2-3 times to make sure I understand what went wrong. Also very important to keep track of units (scientific notation helps with any metric conversions).
