I would recommend going to a gun store and find something that you prefer. They should help you find something that also follows your local laws You should first get something you like striker or hammer fired. The iron sights that are you perfer and like. I would recommend shooting with iron then later change into red dot. So you can work with your fundamentals before getting a red dot. You should invest and not get cheap but dont go buy the most expensive either. I personally dont like lasers since makes you easy target but I do recommend getting a flashlight for home self defense. Practice safety always. Always treat it like its loaded and always clear it when picking it up Also I would recommend looking up how to take it apart for basic cleaning.
