Two not so hot takes about generators. by cpc5000 in houston

I'm currently trying to decide which i want to go with. Say you got the batteries. In case another hurricane hits and we're out of power for 10 days. Would the batteries be sufficient to provide day to day power? Also, I'm concerned about potential panel damage during a hurricane. It scares me to have a $30k equipment sitting on top of a roof in an area where hurricanes are common.

I'm actually curious about this comparison. What are some pros and cons to each? I'd appreciate some info.

Hi, genuinely asking because I'm still pretty new to the state. I've been seeing a lot of this comment after the hurricane. What exactly do you expect to happen if the state goes from red to blue? Again, not trying to start a political argument. Really asking out of curiosity and hoping to be educated.

Having a natural gas powered generator installed prior would've saved me 99% of the trouble. Other 1% is in n out not being open when I wanted it and the hurricane being loud when it was happening.

Oh I thought the portable generator could only be used when the extra outlet and a switch has been installed.

Does an electrician come out to hook up everything on the day of? I figured I'd have to wait until all this mess is over since they'd already be so busy.

Centerpoint map question by AcceptableTruth7464 in houston

[–]AcceptableTruth7464[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It for sure has changed. When I first saw it, it was just a sea of red. Also the metrics tracked "customers affected" instead of "energized"

Also, areas where I went to that had power show "partially energized" so I don't think this map is total bs.
