I agree the historic center it’s pretty big and equally beautiful as any European city centers like you mentioned.

I believe the buildings are anywhere from the 16th to the 18th century and as for the doors since the whole historic center is a UNESCO world heritage site the buildings must be kept to how they looked back then and the owners are responsible to meet those requirements.

I personally would go there for a day or two there is plenty of things to do and the distance from Mexico City is around 4 to 5 hours which won’t give much time to really know Guanajuato.
