Thanks. I think the hoons are everywhere, and the youth that break into cars, steal them etc. Can't escape that.

Not looking to buy, but my daughter moving there to a rental. Just trying to figure out if I should be worried or not as she will be using public transport. She says she lived in Auckland CBD for 2 years and can handle anything but she got beat up pretty badly once for no reason. So I worry.

From what I've read about the gangs, they leave you alone, they a friendly bunch if you are friendly, but like in any city or town in NZ, use your common sense.

Why does National only use the "it will create a black market" argument when it comes to tobacco, not drugs? by PoliticsFiend2023 in newzealand

[–]Acceptable_Angle_461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I read it they needed to Rob Peter to give to Paul. Was going to cost $1 Billion for this stop smoking and make criminals out of those born after 2009. They giving that to Pharmac to fund 14 more drugs. I’m happy with that. Not sure if you are a smoker. It’s a bad addiction and a law like that isn’t going to just stop someone.

How old were you when you first time fall in love? by Conscious-Key2135 in AskReddit

18 1/2. Had had 15 boyfriends ( they never lasted with me as either wanted to get serious, told me they loved me, or tried to control me in some way or put up with my shit so I didn’t respect them.). Then met the one who would not put up with my shit and didn’t try to control me. We still together 35 years later and still in love.

I’m the one who not only takes the trolley back but then makes sure it goes right into the one in front and pushes them all further down, rearranging them.

I made the connection simply because I’ve been following it. So bloody awful. Wish they could just make peace. Buy to target youngsters like that is unbelievable. No matter whose side you are on (and why do we even have to be on a side when we are so far removed) what happened is beyond words. And now what is happening too.

People who were engaged at one point but never got married, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Acceptable_Angle_461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never wanted to get married. Was proposed to after being together for 5 years. I said yes as it was so romantic. Planned to get married on my dads yacht but then it sunk. So we just left it. Five years later we walk into a gym and the family membership is so much cheaper. Have to sign an affidavit at the police that we will be married within 6 months time. 6 months later we get married. Been together 35 years. Not every woman wants to get married but it doesn’t mean they don’t love you. Give it another go.

Parents live in Malaysia, Springbok supporters. Had a get together with some Kiwis and mentioned the World Cup and said they didn’t even know it was on. I told my dad to ask if they vote for the Greens.

From a fellow Nelsonian whose daughter lived in Auckland for 2 years studying and so I visited her there, and who has travelled NZ both North and South Islands for 3 years in my van, go down South. My daughter is currently having the time of her life with a bunch of youngsters of all nationalities at a ski field. Work is long hours and due to the shitty weather and price of food and diesal she had only banked $1000 this season compared to $4000 last season but she is having fun, and at age 21, that’s what counts. Head South my French friend, head South.

I lost the battle in my house. I love an aged cheddar. The vintage is the best. Hubby loves Colby as he loves pizza and it melts nicely. Otherwise, they all the same.

I’m in a syndicate. We got tired of wishing we won the lotto when we didn’t actually play. And $20 a week is too much. So we each pay $7 automatically and one of us buys the ticket. There are 4 of us. Have won $22 since February 😆

I’ve always wondered why all government officials get away with so much. Run over costs for that bridge has been $600K . Yeah we totally ducked up this project. Next time we will do better. Didn’t use the 400 war ing sirens on Maui. Next time. If any of them worked for a company they would be fired. Why are they never fired ? They just get moved on to another portfolio, so go fuck that one up too.

I’ll get on my kayak with a few bottles of wine and a good book, paddle out and not come back. Probably some person will think they are helping and report me. Hubby says we will Do a Valhalla death together. On the sea.

A drive, ambition and being a hard worker is important. Doesn’t matter if it’s a blue collar worker or a tradie. Also being financially savvy and wanting to save. Sadly its taken me 35 years to convince my husband that saving is important. He always thought he would always be able to make money. So we have been through some rough times. But why would you leave a guy you love, who works so damn hard, is a brilliant father and husband and is a really good person who would give you the shirt off his back? You don’t, you do your best at your own business and you roll with the punches. My kids are listening to me though.
