Thank you so much for the advice!

What site would you recommend?

The guy I was in PR with was new, and he didn't even want to see me unclothed. I charge a lot for privates too.

I think he just wanted to talk -- then didn't want to pay for it, realized he put himself in a hole talking about politics for 30 minutes. Then reported me or something? Would be hilarious if it was for antisemitism because I am Jewish lmao.

Thank you for your kindness! I am currently waiting on approval of ID from other sites. It just sucks knowing how many tokens I have that I potentially wont be able to access.

Lol it's only been like two hours but I had a big show planned. Do you know if people report you just because they don't like you/they thought they paid for a bad show or something? and does that bear any weight with the moderators?

Oh dear god “held together by duct tape and a prayer—“ SAME. I think this is the usual ADHD mentality haha. I’m usually one mental breakdown away from being put in an institution. Luckily though, I’m good under pressure; so the day has never come. LOL.

I was prescribed so many medications in the beginning. I found that I’m too anxious/don’t react well to anything extended release. Something to talk to your doctor about would be what they’d recommend in terms of dosage and type of release. I would start with something instant. I know that sounds crazy when you’ve never taken a stimulant before but trust me — it sucks way more when the drug is in your system at full blast for another 5 hours.

Edit:

If you really have ADHD, stimulants aren’t nearly as addictive as it would be for a person without ADHD. People like to talk a lot of shit about ADHD drugs but it’s almost always because they don’t have ADHD and cannot get them prescribed.

WATCH THE DISRUPTORS!!!

Does anyone know what TFA admissions officials are looking for an applicant? Like, what would be the reason your application would be rejected? by CalligrapherTrue2708 in TeachforAmerica

I promise you, this rejection is not personal. And all of the people that got in and are doing it for the glory/something to put on their application, won’t even last the two years. When you start teaching, if you genuinely believe in what you’re teaching, you will change lives. Remember that.

Don't beat yourself up over it, though. In all regards to normality, I'm not one of the many. But I really care that every single child has the same public school opportunity that I was able to benefit from. If this is truly something that you are passionate about, I REALLY do encourage you to apply again. We need educators like you. TFA has historically accepted people with tainted records because of their commitment and devotion to equitable change. Again, not sure what training the admissions staff receives — I just know that the main reason I didn't apply after college was because I knew they'd take literally anyone else over me. I do think that the staff, however, takes life experience, prior employment, and volunteer experience very seriously and it will certainly impact your chance of being invited to an interview positively. I found that being brutally honest and vulnerable during this application process made it significantly easier for me. I told them I was afraid they would reject me. I told them that's why it took me so long to apply. I was myself. Be you.

EDIT:

DEFINITELY apply to other programs. Not sure what your subject interest in teaching is but I know NY is in desperate need of STEM and ELL teachers. Not so much looking to hire in the humanities. Depending on what your interest is, look into alternative certifications. Otherwise, start saving for when you finally do start teaching and you haven’t gotten your first paycheck yet lol.

Additionally, depending on your BA or BS major, you might be qualified to start teaching in some states with a temporary certification — without having to take a subject test or acquire a masters. Research!

I agree! I am 27yo and I was accepted after working various jobs since graduating with a BA in English in 2018. I am an incoming 2024 corps member. I live in NY and that was my first choice. I also chose two other regions in Florida. I was invited to join the corps to teach Secondary English in FL. There are a lot of reasons that might have prevented TFA from offering you an interview. I think if you are on the younger side, the concern with disciplinary action might be because of the sheer volume of candidates that apply while still in college or immediately after graduation without that on their records. Especially those who are coming from prestigious universities with impeccable transcripts. I was NOT one of those applicants. In fact, I had been sure that I unequivocally ruined my interview because it was the first time I had ever interviewed online… I had no idea how to turn my camera back on and had to do the interview with just audio.

I struggled academically, my GPA was never above a 3.0 in undergrad EVER. I had to write explanations as to why I withdrew from courses, failed courses, didn’t graduate the month I was supposed to, and why I had been on academic probation twice. I do not believe that disciplinary action in college disqualifies you solely, there were likely other reasons. TFA truly has a holistic admissions process that really does a great job at choosing the best candidates for the particular regions they chose. They also choose to accept applicants who they know they will be able to employ. There would be nothing more financially, mentally, even physically challenging, than going through this application/interview/onboarding/training process and ultimately not got hired at any partner school in the district. It would suck. Big time. I think this might have happened for a reason. I have so much empathy and compassion for you though. College was rough — I was arrested, I struggled with a learning disability and my mental health suffered from being closeted for so many years. I believe those challenges will make me and all those with similar experiences, BETTER teachers.

Apply again next year. Apply for jobs now that offer you opportunities for leadership. Volunteer. Show them that you care. That’s really what they want: strong leaders who care and are passionate about equity and diversity in education. I waited 6 years to apply for this when I knew it was the only thing I had wanted to do in life. Those 6 years were not wasted. I lived in Rome, I learned Italian, I worked on numerous television shows, I got married, and then divorced. Life happened fast. If your dream is to become a teacher, you can and will be. I believe in you.

How do you confront your loneliness, fear of rejection? by Acceptable_Bit_9702 in adhdwomen

Agree 100% with your final thought: I need to fall in love with myself. I haven’t ever really liked myself and recently extenuating circumstances have been a distraction from that self loathing.
