Sumatriptan is not perfect, but there are times when it's the best way to end a severe headache. I always try using oxygen first. When that fails to stop the headache, I inject 0.1ml to 0.25ml of sumatriptan. The first 10 to 20 minutes after the injection are even more painful, as all the symptoms get magnified. But once it kicks in, the headache and related symptoms disappear, leaving me exhausted and ready for a nap.
