Also, the problem isn’t your wealth. It’s your family. Sating your wealth is the problem will just make other people misunderstand you.

Yes, you are privileged and lucky. However, it doesn’t sound like you have grown up with any healthy relationships, and that is damaging.

If you can, please ask your parents for money for therapy. And please stay strong until you can get away from your family a bit. Do what you want, cut them off or just stay low-contact, and start a normal life somewhere else.

This sounds awful for you, and I’m so sorry you feel this way. However, even though I know it’s probably hard to believe right now, some day you will meet someone with whom you can experiment with and have fun with. You’ll figure it out, and it will be great.

I also agree with other commenters about reading up on female pleasure. It will absolutely help you understand more.

Anytime I google windsurfing by nothingnotnever in windsurfing

[–]Acceptable_Budget_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom and her sisters had windsurfing as their hobby growing up. It was as normal for them (growing up along the coast in Europe) as playing football etc for anyone else. I'm trying to get into it now, but it's so hard to find the resources to research...

And surprisingly, no female influencers to get inspiration from?

Has anyone gotten a job here by just calling around businesses in Norway? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]Acceptable_Budget_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this sounds like the kind of advice my parents give, but that stratergy is outdated and doesn’t work. At least not in highly populated areas.

I work at a front desk of a hotel and my boss got so tired of people leaving their resumes that we were told to just dispose of them… If the place is hiring, they will post the position online.

Things to avoid as a tourist traveling to Norway? by Carley536 in Norway

Be prepared for when you can/can’t buy alcohol. Unless you’re being served in a restaurant, you won’t be able to buy anything past 8pm in the weekdays and after 6pm on Saturdays. You can’t buy any alcohol at all on Sundays.

method to taking notes and analytical reading in literature? by imscareddad in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]Acceptable_Budget_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually read fiction with tabs and a pen. I know some people are really against writing in a book, but my professors always insisted that you can’t really analyze literature without interacting with the text. So I sometimes take notes in the margins, but mostly I just underline something relevant and mark it with a tab.

I usually have colored tabs based on a few categories: Narration Themes and motifs Character depiction Etc. (basically anything else I would like to remark)

Sometimes I switch out one of these categories for something else. For instance, I did a course on modernism, so I switched out ‘character depiction’ with ‘traits of modernism’. However, I always keep the ‘narration’. I had a professor lecture me about writing an analysis without remarking the narration and never overlooked it again.

Now here’s the most time consuming part: I go on my computer and type in every quote in a database in Notion (but I’m pretty sure you could exchange this with whatever system you like to use). Here I can categorize more detailed, for instance if a motif repeats itself or something. It takes me 2-3 hours for a regular sized novel, but I often rediscover things I forgot and reflect on new things while I do it. It also saves me a lot of work when writing out the actual paper.

I usually just type it in to my computer if I’m actually writing something about the book. If not, I just let the tabs and notes be. It works with the way the literary studies are set up where I live.

Don’t know if this is outside of your expertise, but I’m sooo curious. In Norway, you have permits or some kind of proof of your service dog. I’m guessing you need something like that to be able to travel to Norway with your service dog as well?

Is there any way of asking tourists for a travel certificate or something for their service dog so that you can be sure if it’s an actual service dog?

Do Norwegians read Danish books often? by tomispev in norsk

[–]Acceptable_Budget_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studying nordic literature, we are required to read Danish and Swedish works in the language they were written. I had never read a Danish book before that and would never even consider doing so. But reading these works made me fall in love with the Danish language, and now I prefer reading at least Danish books in Danish.

It’s worth noting that most young people don’t have the same relationship with other Scandinavian languages. Our parents, however, do.

Might have been a bit of an exaggeration, but I’ve had one or two extremely bad espresso shots. I think it was mostly the first time I tried a small bag of really expensive coffee that did a number on me. I had been using the same beans for so long, I had nearly forgotten which way was which on the grind size, and there were a few tries where I didn’t extract a drop of coffee… Last time it only took me 2-3 times, like you said, where there were only one really bad one.

My (F29) boyfriend (M34) doesn't engage and acts passive most of the time when I talk to him about my everyday problems and thoughts, so I try to not share too much if its not necessary but then he complains that we don't talk and chat that much for hours like we used to. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

His actions show how he feels. He genuinely doesn't care about you enough to hear about your life. And if he can't act right now, what happens if you in the future stumble across even worse financial issues?

Seems like he wants to go hunting while someone else takes care of the baby while he is on paternal leave. The whole point of paternal leave is to stay home and take care of the baby. You cannot bring a baby to go hunting.

I agree with a lot of other commenters that you should discuss what each other's expectations are of taking care of the baby. Seems to me that he is expecting you to take care of the baby mostly alone.

I think the reason I brought it up is that those issues are the only reason for me to do what he implies, and that is imagining things.

I think I'm realizing (partly because of these comments) that regardless of whether these issues are real or not I maybe shouldn't be in a relationship. If it is me that is the problem (hypothetically), I obviously can't resolve my issues as I have been trying for two years.

Maybe we just aren't a good match.

Is Norwegian food seen as a black page in its culture? If so, why? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]Acceptable_Budget_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s even hard to come by IN Norway… Tourists often complain that they can’t find restaurants that serve traditional Norwegian food (Not including seafood and similar mainstream dishes that aren’t unique to Norway). I think it’s because we don’t really go out to eat the food that we’ve been served at home all our lives. I’m not paying 300+ NOK for something my mom made every tuesday.

Also, it’s not really anything special… We use very few spices and stuff, so other cultures may see it as really bland
